Charles Schwab Challenge 2024 schedule, venue, purse, and more

Colonial CC’s golf course underwent a renovation before the Charles Schwab Challenge.

The Charles Schwab Challenge 2024, taking place from May 23-26 at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, is a highly anticipated event with a purse of $9.1 million and a $1.638 million share. The defending champion, Emiliano Grillo, will want to replicate his success from last year. The four-day event will showcase top talent and dramatic moments on one of golf’s most iconic courses.

The PGA Tour returns to Fort Worth for the Charles Schwab Challenge, a historic event held annually at Colonial Country Club since 1946. Known for its history and champions, ‘Hogan’s Alley’ has produced numerous notable figures, but the course has recently undergone a significant transformation.

Charles Schwab Challenge 2024 venue

Colonial CC’s golf course underwent a 2023 renovation, incorporating new bentgrass greens, bunkers, irrigation, drainage, and hydroponics. Bermudagrass was added to fairways and rough. The tree-lined, positional course has only produced a winning score of -15 under par since 2011.

Hanse has performed restorations at iconic and classical golf courses in America, including Winged Foot, Merion, LACC, Oakmont, and The Country Club at Brookline. Colonial’s nature, featuring tight driving corridors and firm, small greens, is expected to remain unchanged, as Hanse’s intention is to restore the golf course to its original intent.

The course changes have been completed after the final putt dropped at the 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge.

The Charles Schwab Challenge, hosted by Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth for the 79th year, features a field of 133 players with a purse of $9.1 million and $1.6 million for the winner.
