Anshu Khalko emerges champion at Connect India Japan Golf Invitational Tournament

Anshu Khalko won the best gross score of 78 while Veera Singh finished as the winner in the ladies category.

The inaugural Connect India Japan Invitational Golf Tournament concluded on Sunday at the Classic Golf and Country Club, celebrating a remarkable blend of competition, camaraderie, and cultural exchange. The tournament brought together an impressive roster of business leaders, bureaucrats, and celebrities from India and Japan, all competing in a spirited atmosphere that highlighted the growing partnership between the two nations.

Played in the Stableford format using the Double Peoria system of handicapping, the event featured a keen competition across three handicap categories.

In the 0-8 Handicap Category, Rahul Rai emerged victorious with 34 Stableford points while former Indian cricketer and acclaimed commentator Murali Karthik secured the runner-up position with 31 points with Justice Anupinder Singh Grewal taking the second runner-up spot with 30 points.

In the 9-15 Handicap Category, Karan P. Singh claimed the top honours scoring 31 Stableford points. HBS Gill followed closely, earning the runner-up position with 30 points, while Deepak Negi completed the podium with 29 points, edging past two other opponents on a countback.

The 16-24 Handicap Category witnessed an exhilarating finish with a three-way tie at 33 Stableford points. After a countback, Shiv Sahai was declared the winner, edging out Nishant Kalia and Aditya Anand, who finished as runner-up and second runner-up, respectively.

Anshu Khalko won the best gross score of 78 while Veera Singh finished as the winner in the ladies category.

Nupur Tewari, the visionary behind Connect India Japan, expressed her delight at the success of the event: “This tournament has been a true celebration of sportsmanship and cross-cultural exchange. Adding to the day’s excitement, Skill Prizes for Closest to the Pin, Straightest Drive, and Longest Drive highlighted individual brilliance, enhancing the competitive spirit of the tournament.
