Six jaw-dropping Shots from 2024 PGA Tour Season

Golfers like Min Woo Lee, Rory McIlroy, and Scottie Scheffler have made significant contributions to the sport, with their shots influencing momentum, altering tournament courses, and shaping golf lore. Here is the list of the six best shots in the 2024 PGA Tour so far.

1. Jess Whitting’s Hole-in-One for a BMW i4 eDrive35

At the Webex Players Series Murray River event, Australian golfer Jess Whitting made a hole-in-one on the 164-meter 3rd hole at Cobram Barooga Golf Club. Whitting had previously spoken about believing that her next hole-in-one would come with a car as the prize, and she was proven right. The ace earned her a brand-new BMW i4 eDrive35 Grand Coupe valued at $93,000.

“I kept saying to people, the next time I make a hole-in-one it’s going to be when there’s a car,” Whitting said. “I’ve said it for years. The one that matters is when there’s going to be a car. Still gobsmacked.”

2. Min Woo Lee’s Eagle at 2024 Australian Open

During the second round of the 2024 Australian Open, Min Woo Lee set the crowds alight with an eagle at the par-5 18th hole. Lee unleashed a monster drive and was left with 174 meters to the pin. From the pine straw, he hit a “swooping hook 9-iron” that landed and spun towards the hole, nearly going in for an eagle.

“Ended up in the nice pine straw out there and had a really good number for a 9-iron, like really big 9-iron and I’ve been hitting draws all week and it kind of sat up really nicely,” Lee said. “I saw the (TV) coverage and it spun left towards the hole and nearly actually went in, so really happy with that finish. It’s always nice to make an eagle whenever, but on the last hole, it’s even nicer.”

3. Rory McIlroy’s Hole-in-One at 2024 Masters Tournament

On the iconic 16th hole at Augusta National during the final round of the 2024 Masters Tournament, Rory McIlroy produced a moment of magic. With the tournament on the line, McIlroy stepped up and struck a perfect 8-iron that landed softly on the green and rolled straight into the cup for an electrifying hole-in-one.

The roar from the patrons shook the grounds as McIlroy pumped his fist in celebration of the clutch shot that ultimately sealed his long-awaited Masters victory.

“I couldn’t have picked a better time to make my first hole-in-one at Augusta,” McIlroy said. “That shot will go down as one of the greatest in Masters history.”

4. Scottie Scheffler’s Bunker Hole-Out at 2024 US Open

During the third round of the 2024 US Open at Los Angeles Country Club, world #1 Scottie Scheffler produced a moment of magic from the bunker on the par-3 8th hole. Facing a challenging up-and-down to save par, Scheffler splashed his ball out of the sand and watched it take one hop before finding the bottom of the cup.

The crowd erupted in cheers as Scheffler calmly acknowledged the ovation, his bunker hole-out keeping him firmly in contention heading into the final round.

“That was a huge momentum boost,” Scheffler said. “Getting up-and-down from that bunker was crucial, and to see it go in was just icing on the cake.”

5. Xander Schauffele’s Eagle Putt at 2024 Open Championship

On the final day of the 2024 Open Championship at Royal Liverpool, Xander Schauffele found himself in a tight battle for the Claret Jug. Standing over a lengthy eagle putt on the par-5 16th hole, Schauffele stepped up and drained the clutch putt, sending the gallery into a frenzy. The eagle moved Schauffele into a share of the lead and proved to be a pivotal moment in his eventual triumph.

“That putt on 16 was massive,” Schauffele said. “I knew I needed to make a move, and to see that ball find the bottom of the cup was an incredible feeling. That’s why we play this game – for moments like that.”

6. Jordan Spieth’s Hole-Out from the Fairway at 2024 BMW Championship

In the final round of the 2024 BMW Championship, Jordan Spieth produced a moment of magic that will be remembered for years to come. Facing a long approach shot on the par-4 14th hole, Spieth struck a perfect shot that landed softly on the green and rolled straight into the cup for a spectacular hole-out.

The improbable eagle moved Spieth into contention and showcased his world-class ball-striking ability under pressure.

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw that ball disappear,” Spieth said. “To pull off a shot like that in the final round of a playoff event is something special. It’s moments like that which make this game so rewarding.”

The 2024 PGA Tour season was marked by exceptional skill, drama, and excitement, with memorable moments like Scheffler’s clutch putting, Woods’ vintage magic, and Åberg’s youthful brilliance that will remain etched in golf fans’ memories.
