Shane Lowry, Luke Donald to join fellow Ryder Cup teammates at DP World India Championship
Many European pros to attend 2026 DPWIC
European Ryder Cup Captain Luke Donald and Major winner Shane Lowry, who has triumphed twice as part of Team Europe, are set to return to Delhi for the second edition of golf‘s DP World India Championship.The duo will once again be part of a stellar field – including a host of fellow European Ryder Cup heroes as well as newly crowned Open Champion Ryan Fox – in the highly-anticipated $4,000,000 event at Delhi Golf Club from October 15-18.
Donald captained Europe to home and away Ryder Cup victories in Rome in 2023 and New York last year – becoming only the second European Captain to win home and away after Tony Jacklin in 1985 and 1987 – and returns to the role as he seeks to make more history at Adare Manor in Ireland in 2027. The former World Number One made his professional debut in India last year and returns to the DP World India Championship among a field that includes some of the stars that contributed to those famous European wins – defending champion Tommy Fleetwood, back-to-back Masters champion Rory McIlroy, Major champion Justin Rose and DP World Tour and PGA TOUR winner Viktor Hovland.
Donald said: “It’s a privilege to be able to play golf all over the world, and I really enjoyed my first experience of Delhi last year. It’s shaping up to be another incredible DP World India Championship field, and I look forward to teeing it up alongside so many European Ryder Cup players in particular.”
Lowry finished tied third in the inaugural DP World India Championship, and the 2019 Open Champion, who made his third consecutive Ryder Cup appearance last year, is looking forward to building on that performance at Delhi Golf ClubThe Irishman said: “I was pleased with how the week went at the DP World India Championship last year, and the fans gave us such a warm welcome. It was enjoyable to be part of the first edition of the event, and I look forward to more of the same this October.”
This move shows India’s importance to DP World
Global smart logistics provider DP World and the DP World Tour launched the DP World India Championship in 2025. Co-sanctioned with the DP World Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), the tournament features the largest prize fund ever offered for a DP World Tour event in India and will once again take its place as part of the crucial Back 9 phase of the Race to Dubai.

The launch of the second edition of the DP World India Championship underscores India’s growing influence as a destination for elite golf and as a strategic market for DP World. The new tournament follows the success of the long-running Hero Indian Open and further boosts the Tour’s momentum in the region.
As the Tour’s title partner since 2022, and after becoming the Title and Official Umbrella Partner of the PGTI earlier this year, the tournament complements DP World’s broader sporting footprint in India, which includes partnerships with the Delhi Capitals, and grassroots programmes like the Second Life Container initiative and ‘Balls for Birdies’ campaign – both of which involve DP World donating golf balls, using its smart logistics network, to help grow the game and make it more accessible.
The DP World India Championship will be the eighth of nine events in the Back 9 phase of the 2026 Race to Dubai, building towards the season-ending DP World Tour Play-Offs and culminating in the DP World Tour Championship in November at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai.
