Olympic Clashes
The first official meeting took place during the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. However, before the meeting, India had already won five straight Olympic gold medals while Pakistan was still to win a medal. Randhir Singh Gentle scored the only goal of the match helping India add one more gold to their medals tally.
In the Summer Olympics in 1960, both nations once again met in the final. This time Pakistan defeated India 1-0, courtesy of a goal by Naseer Ahmad Bunda.

The Asian Champions Trophy features Asia’s top six field hockey teams. India became the inaugural champion of the Asian Champions Trophy after defeating Pakistan 4-2 in a shoot-out in 2011.
Apart from South Korea, India and Pakistan have both won the trophy three times each.
