FIH Hockey5s: Day 1 Live Updates

The FIH Hockey5s will be a two day event and will start on June 4th and end that is June 5th. It will see two teams playing against each other with four field players and a goalkeeper.
On Day 1 the Indian men's hockey team take on Switzerland and Pakistan while the women face Uruguay and Poland.
Moreover the playing area is also smaller compared to a standard hockey field. It is 55m long and 41.70m wide. The idea behind the Hockey5s it is to make the game more exhilarating. In addition the players can take a shot from anywhere on the pitch. Moreover the penalty corners and penalty strokes have also been nullified. In turn we will get to witness a "challenge". It is similar to the one on one method used in a penalty shootout.
Both the Indian men's and women's team will also be participating in the Hockey5s. It will be hosted in the beautiful city of Lausanne in Switzerland. On one hand the women's team will go up against the likes of Uruguay, Poland, South Africa and Switzerland. On the other the Indian men's team will play against India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Poland and hosts Switzerland.
The Hockey5s matches will be contested in a round robin format. With the top two teams playing in the finals on 5th June. Rajani Etimarpu will be leading the women and Gurinder Singh will be in charge of the men. The teams will be managed by Graham Reid (Men) and Janneke Schopman (Women) respectively.
