Hockey India League: Team owners and their franchises in HIL 2024-25

Two women’s teams are yet to be announced and will be named in due time.
The Hockey India League is back after seven years and there is a lot of excitement among the fans. This time the women’s tournament will also start and run parallelly with the men’s team. The Hockey Indian League was originally founded in 2013. However, the league was scrapped after 2017 and now resumes after a wait of seven years.
After winning back-to-back Olympic medals, hockey’s popularity has increased in India and the sport has reached new heights. Thus, the league will give a lot of exposure to the upcoming talents and the focus will be on improving the grassroots level in India and the league will be a pivotal choice for that.
There will be eight teams in the men’s league and six in the women’s tournament respectively. So far only four women’s teams have been announced. One can expect the announcement of the other two teams soon.
The inaugural season of the previous HIL was won by the Ranchi Rhinos after they defeated Delhi Waveriders in the finals. Delhi Waveriders won the second season after a heartbreak in the first season. The third season was won by Ranchi Rays while Punjab Warriors won the fourth season. The fifth season was won by the Kalinga Lancers defeating Dabang Mumbai in the finals.
Teams and owners of Hockey India League 2024
Let’s look at the owners of all eight men’s teams and four women’s teams.
Men’s Teams
SG Sports (Delhi)
SG Sports will own the Delhi team in the Hockey India League. Indian tennis legend Mahesh Bhupati is the CEO of the Delhi Team. The SG sports also own teams in other leagues as well. They own the Ahmedabad team in the Ultimate Table Tennis League (UTT), Alpines SG Pipers in the Global Chess League and the Bengaluru team in the Tennis Premier League.
The team’s name will be Delhi SG Pipers. They have appointed legendary Indian goalkeeper PR Sreejesh as the Team Director and have also roped in Graham Reid as the head coach. Reid guided the Indian men’s hockey team to a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
Charles Group (Chennai)
The Charles Group will own the Chennai team in the Hockey India League. Mr. Santiago Martin will be the owner of the Chennai Team. The Coimbatore-based company was also the biggest donor of the electoral bonds based on the data of the Supreme Court. The company was founded in 1991 and is also known as the lottery King of India.
Yadu Sports (Lucknow)
The Yadu Sports will own the Lucknow team in the Hockey India League. Mr. Madhavkrishna Singhania is the CEO of the company and will be the owner of the Lucknow team. They are the promoters of JK Cement and are also own JK Cement Panthers in the Corporate Cricket League (CCL).
They were also the title sponsor of Dabang Delhi KC in 2021 and are the title sponsors of Janebaz Kota Challengers in the Rajasthan Premier League (RPL).
Shrachi Sports (Kolkata)
Shrachi Sports will own the Kolkata teams in the Hockey India League. Ayan Banerjee is the CEO of Shrachi Sports. As the name suggests Shrachi Sports is a sports business venture of the Todi family. They have also partnered with the former Indian Tennis player and legend Leander Paes. Cricket legend Sourav Ganguly is part of the company. They have named their team as Royal Bengal Tigers.
Vedanta Group (Odisha)
Vedanta Limited will own the Odisha team in the Hockey India League. They are an Indian multinational mining company whose main work is to mine Iron ore, gold and aluminium. The company has a major base in Odisha and will look to help lead the Odisha hockey franchise to new heights with the support of the Odisha Govt. Anil Agarwal is the owner of Vedanta Limited.
Resolute Sports (Hyderabad)
The Resolute Sports will own the Hyderabad men’s team in the Hockey India League. They also own Delhi Toofans in the Prime Volleyball League. They have appointed Siddharth Pandey as their Technical Director. Alok Sanghi will be the owner of the team. The team will be named Hyderabad Toofans.
Navoyam Sports (Ranchi)
The Navoyam Group will own the Ranchi team. The Ranchi team has won two titles so far in the Hockey India League. Ranchi Rhinos won the inaugural season beating Delhi Waveriders in the finals. They also won the third season when the team’s name was changed to Ranchi Rays. Sanjeev Srivastava will be the owner of the team.

JSW Group (Punjab)
JSW Group will own the Punjab team in the Hockey India League. JSW Sports has been investing in a lot of sports in recent times. They own Delhi Capitals in IPL, Bengaluru FC in ISL and Haryana Steelers in PKL. Parth Jindal is an integral part of the JSW group and supports many of India’s Olympians. The JSW group is ready for another chapter in their sporting history.
Women’s Teams
JSW Group (Haryana)
JSW Group will also own the Haryana women’s team in the Hockey India League. Manisha Malhotra, another key member of the JSW Group, has said that the “Hockey India leagues will do wonders for women’s Hockey in India.”
SG Sports (Delhi)
SG Sports will also own the Delhi women’s team. The team name will be Delhi SG Pipers.
Shrachi Sports (Kolkata)
Just like SG Sports, Shrachi Sports will also own both Kolkata men’s and women’s teams. The team’s name will be Royal Bengal Tigers.
Navoyam Sports (Odisha)
The Navoyam Sports will own the Odisha Women’s team in the Hockey India League.
