Hello and welcome to Khel Now’s live blog for India vs Belgium match in Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2025. Please wait for the blog to load!

India kicked off their Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2025 campaign with a 1–0 win over South Korea on Sunday, November 23, in rain-soaked Ipoh. Now, they will take on Belgium in their second match of the round-robin event.

India’s opener was pushed back by more than six hours due to relentless rain in the city, but once the play finally began, the Men in Blue wasted little time stamping their authority.

Midfielder Mohammed Raheel scored a goal in the dying moments of the first quarter, converting a penalty corner with a perfectly-angled drag flick. That goal proved to be the only strike of the game, but India still had to survive some difficult moments.

Goalkeeper Mohith Honnenahalli Shashikumar pulled off a leg save in the final minute of the fourth quarter to deny South Korea an equalizer from a penalty corner and India held on to their 1-0 lead until the final whistle.

This year marks India’s return to the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup after a six-year gap. The five-time champions have arrived with a strong, well-balanced squad led by captain Sanjay, mixing experienced names like Vivek Sagar Prasad, Jarmanpreet Singh, and Sukhjeet Singh with rising stars.

Up next, India face Belgium at 3:30 PM IST at the Azlan Shah Stadium, who opened their campaign with a 1–1 draw against Canada. The Belgians are a formidable side but have never won this tournament and this is something they’ll be eager to change this time.

The Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2025 tournament features six teams — India, Belgium, Canada, South Korea, New Zealand, and hosts Malaysia–competing in a round-robin format, with three points for a win and one for a draw.

After the preliminary stage ends on November 29, the classicification matches on November 30 will decide 5th place, 3rd place, and the champions in the tournament final.
