The last international match at the venue was during the 2014 Hockey World League Final. The upcoming series has already drawn significant public interest with over 12,000 fans registering for free tickets at the 16,000-capacity stadium.

India are fresh from their Asian Champions Trophy victory in China where the Men in Blue became the only team to win the tournament five times. The hosts have named a 22-member squad, which will feature two debutants, Rajinder Singh and Aditya Arjun Lalage while experienced forward Mandeep Singh returns after being rested for the Asian Champions Trophy.

The series presents a crucial opportunity for India to face the world’s second-ranked team and recent Paris Olympics silver medalists. Germany had defeated India 3-2 in semifinals in Paris earlier this year.

Hockey India’s selection committee has maintained rugged core while bringing in new faces. The games will be important preparation for both teams as they continue their development following the recent Olympics.
