India are the defending champions and successful team in the competition history.

The Men’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024 is set to commence this Sunday in China. Six of the continent’s top sides are poised to clash, and it’s shaping up to be a proper spectacle.

India, the tournament’s heavyweights and defending champions, are fresh off their Paris Olympics campaign. They’ve clinched this title four times already and will be keen to retain their crown. However, there are few sporting changes in their squad—Legendary goalkeeper PR Sreejesh has hung up his gloves, and a handful of other stars are having a bit of a breather.

The Indian men’s hockey team will be joined by Malaysia, Korea, Japan, Pakistan, and the hosts China all vying for the top spot. All teams are all ranked within the world’s top 25, so expect some cracking matches.

India’s skipper, Harmanpreet Singh, is still at the helm. But India have a new vice-captain in Vivek Sagar Prasad. As for the goalkeeping duties? It’s down to Krishan Bahadur Pathak and Suraj Karkera to fill Sreejesh’s rather large boots.
