The Men’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024 is set to commence this Sunday in China. Six of the continent’s top sides are poised to clash, and it’s shaping up to be a proper spectacle.

India, the tournament’s heavyweights and defending champions, are fresh off their Paris Olympics campaign. They’ve clinched this title four times already and will be keen to retain their crown. India’s skipper, Harmanpreet Singh, is still at the helm. But India have a new vice-captain in Vivek Sagar Prasad. As for the goalkeeping duties? It’s down to Krishan Bahadur Pathak and Suraj Karkera to fill Sreejesh’s rather large boots.

Tournament History

The Men’s Asian Champions Trophy is an annual field hockey tournament organized by the Asian Hockey Federation, starting in 2011. It brings together the top six teams from Asia, who compete in a round-robin format. India holds the record for most titles in the tournament’s history. In the 2023 edition, India claimed the championship by defeating Malaysia 4–3 in the final.
