Netherlands women’s team are the most decorated side with record nine medals.
The Hockey International Federation (FIH) has officially announced the hockey schedule for both the men’s and women’s team ahead of the Paris Olympics 2024. The hockey event will get underway on July 27 (Saturday) with all matches set to be played at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium. The top 12 teams across each division (men and women) have qualified for the Paris Olympics and will compete for top hounours.
Regrettably, the Indian women’s hockey team did not qualify for the Paris Olympics 2024, having lost the third-fourth place classification match against Japan at the FIH Women’s Qualifier in Ranchi earlier this year. A victory over Japan was necessary for the Olympic berth, but India fell short, losing 1-0.
Despite India not qualifying, the women’s hockey will provide exhilarating matchups with teams divided in two groups.
The tournament kicks off with France, the host nation, taking on the Netherlands, a team with four World Cup titles to their name. Meanwhile, Argentina, the world’s top-ranked team, will face the challenge of the United States, who are eager to claim their first medal since the Los Angeles Games.
As the competition begins, Australia, the reigning champions, will start their title defense against South Africa. In another highly anticipated match, Great Britain, known for their consistent performance, will compete against Spain, who triumphed in the 1992 Olympics.
Here’s everything you need to know about women’s hockey schedule for Paris Olympics 2024
