Women's Hockey Asian Champions Trophy
Women's Asian Champions Trophy: Full list of title winners
South Korea are the most successful nation in the tournament history.
The Hockey Women’s Asian Champions Trophy is a tournament featuring the top six nations from the Asian Hockey Federation’s member associations. Established in 2010, a total of seven editions have been held so far, in the years 2010, 2011, 2013, 2016, 2018, 2021, and 2023.
Since its inception, South Korea have been the most dominant nation, winning the trophy in 2010, 2011, and 2018, and finishing as runner-up in 2021. Just behind Korea, Japan and India have also had successful runs, each having secured two titles, with Japan winning in 2013 and 2021.
Meanwhile, India are the defending champions, prevailing over Japan in the 2023 tournament held in Ranchi, in a convincing manner by 4-0. In the 2023 edition, China claimed the third place after defeating Korea by 2-1.
As the 2024 edition commences from November 11 to November 20, the six teams—India, China, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, and Thailand will be competing in a bid to bag the prestigious title. Although India will host the tournament and benefit from home crowd support, China enter as the favourite to claim the coveted title for the first time in the competition’s history.
This follows their remarkable campaign at the Paris Olympics 2024, where they stunned many strong teams, including Belgium and Australia, before losing to the Netherlands to earn the silver medal, matching their best-ever finish from the Beijing Olympics. Moreover, the 2024 edition will be China’s eighth appearance in the tournament, the most by any country in the event’s history.
Taking place at the Rajgir Hockey Stadium, the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024 will be held in a round-robin format with all teams facing one another during the tournament. After all teams have faced each other, the top four will advance to the semi-finals to compete for the top podium spot.
The first-placed team will face the fourth-placed team in one of the two semis, while teams that finish second and third will meet in the other semi-final. The winners of these matches will fight for the top-most podium position.
With the tournament approaching, let’s look at the winners of the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy since their commencement.
