Indian Sports Calendar in 2023: Events to watch in fourth week of December

ITF W40 Navi Mumbai set to kick off on Christmas.

The upcoming week is packed with numerous sports events in India. The highlight will be cricket, featuring India’s boxing test against South Africa. Meanwhile, the Indian women’s cricket team will persist in their matches against the Australian women’s team. Additionally, women’s tennis action continues in India with the commencement of ITF W40 event in Navi Mumbai.

Here we take a look at the events to follow in the upcoming week (December 26-31) in the Indian sports calendar.

Cricket

The men’s team after levelling the T20 series, won the ODI series (2-1). Arshdeep Singh led the Blue Colts to a series win and was awarded the man of the series. Next up, they will be up for the test series starting this week. On the other hand, the women’s cricket team after a gigantic win against England continued their momentum and won their maiden test match against Australia.

• December 10-7 January: India’s tour of South Africa (Men)
• December 21-2 January: Australia’s tour of India (Women)

Football

The ISL season 10 has completed the halfway stage with several teams playing close to 11 matches each. FC Goa continues to lead the charge by registering 23 points in nine matches followed by Kerala Blasters with 23 and Mohun Bagan Super Giants with 19. Hyderabad FC are placed in the bottom at the end of their halfway mark.

Tennis

After the successful completion of W25 Solapur, the action shifts to Navi Mumbai for a more grand competition. Ekaterina Makarova will be the top seed and Rutuja Bhosale continues to lead the charge for India is seeded fifth. Sahaja Yamlapalli who lifted the title at Solapur is positioned in the seventh spot.
