Women’s Turkish Cup final to be played this week

The third week of February was a remarkable one in the Indian sports calendar, as several teams and athletes achieved impressive feats on the international stage. The Indian men’s and women’s table tennis teams secured their spots at the Paris Olympics 2024 after giving a tough fight to some of the top-ranked countries in the world.

India also bagged four medals, including one gold by the junior women’s team, on the first day of the Asian Track Cycling Championships. Both the men’s and women’s teams also set new national records in the sprint events, showcasing their speed and skills.

The last week of February promises to be equally exciting, as badminton star Lakshya Sen and other shuttlers will aim to make their mark on the road to Paris Olympics qualification. With such stellar performances and promising prospects, Indian sports fans have a lot to cheer for and look forward to.

Major events to watch in last week of February in Indian Sports Calendar

Athletics

The World Athletics Indoor Championships 2024 is scheduled to take place from March 1 to March 3. Two Indians —Praveen Chithravel in Triple Jump and Jeswin Aldrin in long jump —will be in action in the event.

Badminton

As the road to Paris Olympics 2024 intensifies, BWF German Open 2024 is scheduled to take place from February 27th to March 3rd.

Basketball

The Indian basketball team will aim to recover from their narrow defeat to Kazakhstan as they welcome Iran for a home match in the ongoing FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers Window 1.

Boxing

2024 World Boxing Qualification tournament to commence from February 27th and will continue till March 12. Deepak Bhoria would fight out to win the quota to secure a ticket to Paris against Amit Pangal, who isn’t a part of the contingent.

Cricket

The Indian men’s cricket team will be continuing their ongoing bilateral series against England. After winning the third Test, India fought back in the fourth test in Ranchi, which is heading for an exciting finish on day four. Meanwhile, the Women’s Premier league is off to a flying start with more exciting matches to come.

Cycling

The Indian cyclists will look to do well on the last day of the Asian Championships as it is comes to its fag end.

Football

The Indian Super League 2023-24 returned to action on January 31 for the second half of the season. The league stage matches will continue until April 14, which will be followed by the playoffs. Meanwhile, other domestic leagues also continue. India’s women’s football team will be in action in the Turkish Women’s Cup this week.

Squash

A home tournament for Squash in India as it’s time for ATP Challenger, Delhi. It is scheduled to take place from February 26 to March 3. Later, Canadian Open is scheduled to take place from March 3 to March 7.

Tennis

After the Pune leg, the Indian tour will move to Delhi and the Indian singles players would like to do well and gain some valuable points.

Winter Deaflympics

The 2024 Winter Deaflympics will take place in Ankara, Turkey, from February 18–28, 2024. The Deaflympics are an international multi-sport event for deaf athletes, organized by the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD). They are held every four years, similar to the Summer and Winter Olympics.

Wushu

The Moscow Wushu Stars Championships 2024 is set to take place from February 28 to March 9. Last year, India had won 17 medals, including 10 gold.
