Indian Sports Calendar May 2024: Events to watch in fourth week
The Boxing Olympic Qualifier 2 will start this week.
Another blockbuster week awaits the fans with diverse sporting action on display at the Indian Sports Calendar. The Archery World Cup Stage 2 and the resumption of the hockey FIH Pro League will attract fans worldwide.
Apart from that Rowing and Boxing Olympic Qualifier will be happening this week. This will be the last chance for both rowers and pugilists to qualify for the Olympics. Asian Gymnastics championships is also ongoing and Dipa Karmakar will look to qualify.
The IPL playoffs will also begin this week and it will be interesting to see who will take the cup home. One of the most awaited tournaments of this month, French Open will be starting this week.
Major events to watch in May fourth week of Indian Sports Calendar
Archery
The Archery World Cup Stage II will happen this week and the Indian Archers will look to do well. The women’s recurve team would want to do well to gain crucial ranking points. The expectations will be high as usual from the compound team to deliver and the men’s recurve team would like to show consistency after winning stage 1.

Athletics
A couple of Athletics tournament will be happening this week. The Indian athletes will look to achieve the Olympic qualification mark and would like to improve on the race to Paris rankings. The Asian Relays will also take place this week and will be the last competition before the Paris Olympics.

After the Thailand Open, the caravan will move to Malaysia on the other hand Para-Badminton will also be happening in Bahrain.

Boxing
The Olympic qualifier will be happening this week which will be the last chance for Indian Pugilist to qualify for the Olympics. Indian male boxers are yet to open their account and eyes will be on Nishant Dev, Amit Panghal, and Lakshya to book the ticket to Paris.

Cricket
IPL 2024 has entered its last phase with the playoffs taking place this week. The four teams to qualify for the playoffs are Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Gymnastics
The Asian Championships will be continuing this week and will be the last chance for Gymnasts looking to qualify for the Olympics. Dipa Karmakar will look to do well here to qualify for the Olympics in the Vault category.

Hockey
The Pro League matches will begin this week. India will take on Argentina and Belgium in both men’s and women’s.

The Judo World Championships will take place this week. India is sending nine judokas (2 men and 7 women) for the event in Abu Dhabi.

Para Sports
The World Para-Athletics Championships will be happening this week which will serve as the Olympic qualification tournament.
- May 17-25: World Para-Athletics Championships
- May 21-26: Bahrain Para Badminton International 2024
Rowing
The Final Qualification Regatta will take place at the end of this week in Switzerland. This will be the last chance to qualify for the Olympics. Indian rowers would like to use this opportunity well to secure quota places for Paris.

Squash
Abhay Singh, and Velavan Senthilkumar who recently has been included in tops will be in action this week in Doha for the Bronze level meet. A couple of players will be participating in the home tournament at Indore.

Sepak Takraw
The Sepak Takraw World Cup will be continuing this week.
- May 7-26: ISTAF World Cup, Malaysia (Ongoing)
Table Tennis
The WTT contender will be happening in Brazil. Indian paddlers will look to do well.

Tennis
The second grand slam of the year French Open will be starting this week. Sumit Nagal, Rohan Bopanna and Yuki Bhambri are the Indians who will be taking part in this event.
