Some surprising names make the cut in the list of most Super Tackles in this Season.

Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 9 has witnessed some spectacular games so far with Bengaluru Bulls leading at the top with ten victories. Puneri Paltan, Jaipur Pink Panthers, and UP Yoddhas are in the second, third, and fourth spots respectively. With half of the season already completed, it's time for the next half where teams would put extra effort to reach the playoffs.

In this first half, we have seen some phenomenal defending from the players. Today, we are here to showcase to you the top five defenders with the most Super Tackles in the ongoing PKL 9 season. Here they are:

5. Jaideep Dahiya (4 Super Tackles)

Though Haryana Steelers are at the tenth spot, defender Jaideep Dahiya is one of their positives so far with four Super Tackles to his name. He has been consistent for his side and would look to carry on that form in the upcoming games. Haryana Steelers edged Gujarat Giants (33-32) in their last game. A couple of more wins can take them to the sixth spot.

4. Ankit (5 Super Tackles)

Would you believe a player from Telugu Titans alone make the cut in this list? Well, with the kind of performance the Titans have shown, it seems impossible to see any player from their side in either of the lists, but Ankit has been brilliant. He has been magnificent on numerous occasions even when his team under-performed. With five Super Tackles from just nine matches, he leads this list. The Titans next face Patna Pirates and will be desperate for a win.

3. Sagar (5 Super Tackles)

Tamil Thalaivas struggled a lot at the beginning of PKL 9 but came back with a bang later. With no Pawan Sehrawat in the side now, it was Narender who took charge of the raiding department. And when it came to defence, Sagar was the one who tackled brilliantly. So far, he has scored five Super Tackles and with less than half of the games left in the tournament, Sagar would look to increase this number till the end.

2. Vishal Bhardwaj (5 Super Tackles)

Vishal Bhardwaj has been one of the few bright sparks for Telugu Titans in PKL season 9. He is currently second in the most Super Tackles chart with five Super Tackles in 14 matches. Although the Titans have struggled this season and have just two victories, Vishal has been in excellent form. The Titans are at the bottom of the points table and need runs of wins to have any chance of making the playoffs.

1. Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh (8 Super Tackles)

Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh broke the record for most tackle points scored by a single player in the history of the pro-Kabaddi League by scoring 16 points. Overall the left-corner defender scored 19 points (16 tackles and 3 raid points) against Dabang Delhi KC.

Out of the 27 points scored by Patna Pirates in the match 19 were scored by Chiyaneh itself which is almost 70 per cent of the team’s total score. Also, all the tackle points were scored in super tackle situations with the experienced cover defender Neeraj Kumar giving good assists.
