The record breaker was the guest on Khel Now TV for the finals of PKL 9.

Pardeep Narwal has revealed a piece of important information regarding his future in the Pro Kabaddi League that he will continue to play for UP Yoddhas in the upcoming season as well. He revealed this exclusive information in the 'Bol Kabaddi Khel Kabaddi' season 2 show on the Khel Now YouTube channel. The camaraderie between Pardeep Narwal and the management has been good and both have come to mutual consent. There is no official announcement as such but shall be revealed before the start of season 10 next year.

Pardeep Narwal was the primary raider for UP Yoddhas after Surender Gill was injured and managed to play only 13 matches. Dubki King along with secondary raider Rohit Tomar took care of the raiding department and qualified for the playoffs for the fifth consecutive time. Pardeep Narwal finished the season in the sixth position scoring 220 raid points in 22 matches.

The Dubki King was handed over the captaincy in the mid of last season

The start of the season was not ideal and the performance was below average but once Surender Gill got injured Pardeep started to perform which was the turning point for the raider. He was also assigned the additional role of captaining the team after Nitesh Kumar gave up in the mid-season and the pressure of captaincy did not let his performance go down having  already captained the Patna Pirates before. In the playoff match against Tamil Thalaivas, it was Pardeep Narwal who scored a super raid which brought the match close and ended up in a tie.

Pardeep in the Bol Kabaddi Khel Kabaddi show also said that he wants to lift the trophy at least once with UP Yoddhas as the side has been consistently progressing to the playoffs but has not won a single trophy to date. Pardeep in the past has been part of Patna Pirates and has lifted the trophy thrice (hattrick) so winning a PKL title is not new for the record breaker.

There were also questions regarding why Pardeep was used less at the start of the season. The raider said that “the player who performs well shall be given more raids and it was Surendar Gill who was performing consistently so ultimately he will be given more chances. But once he got injured I took over and performed well in his absence”. Surender Gill has been one of the best raiders in the league and the last season his performance was exceptional.

Performance in the previous seasons

Pardeep Narwal started his PKL career playing for Bengaluru Bulls in season 2 but the raider was not offered many opportunities as Bengaluru already had experienced raiders on the side. In season 3, Pardeep shifted base and played for Patna Pirates and since then there was no looking back and started to break records for fun.

Season 2 - 9 points

Season 3 - 121 points

Season 4 - 133 points

Season 5 - 369 points

Season 6 - 233 points

Season 7 - 304 points

Season 8 - 188 points

Season 9 - 220 points

None apart from Pardeep Narwal has been consistent in the history of the league and scoring more than 300 points twice. The 25-year-old will also look to represent India at the Asian Games and his experience shall prove to be vital.
