Exclusive: “Tamil Thalaivas won't retain Pawan Sehrawat for PKL 10”: Anup Kumar

Anup Kumar a prominent raider and former Indian Kabbadi Captain made a stunning statement regarding Pawan Sehrawat in an exclusive interview with Khel Now. Ex-Indian captain Kumar speculated that Tamil Thalaivas won’t retain Pawan Sehrawat in the Pro Kabbadi League 2023.

In last year’s Auction Tamil Thailavas had bought Pawan Sehrawat at a hefty price during the previous season’s auctions. Kumar stated that if they retain him, it might create difficulties in acquiring other players, and the team might struggle to form a strong squad. He also suggested if Pawan Sehrawat doesn’t find any bids in the auctions, then the team may use the FBM (Final Bid Match) card for him. 

Anup said, “Pawan Sehrawat will be a part of the auction this time too and according to me, this time too he will get a bid of more than two crores. Apart from this, I want that there should be at least four-five players for whom bids of more than 2 crores are made. This will let these players know their actual importance.”

Tamil brought Pawan Sehrawat for a whooping 2.26cr in the last season’s auction

Pawan Sehrawat, who was sold for the highest price last season, was bought by Tamil Thalaivas for 2.26 crores, making him the most expensive player in PKL history. The team had also appointed him as their captain. However, Pawan suffered an injury early in the season and couldn’t participate in any further matches. Despite this, Tamil Thalaivas made history by reaching the semifinals for the first time. As the new season approaches, speculations are rife about whether Tamil Thalaivas will retain Pawan Sehrawat or not.

Furthermore, Anup Kumar has predicted that if Pawan Sehrawat participates in the auctions, he might once again attract bids surpassing 2 crores. He also hopes to see at least four to five players receiving bids of more than 2 crores. This way, the players will understand their true value and importance.

He ranks among the top 5 raiders in the league’s history. Pawan Sehrawat had a remarkable stint with Bengaluru Bulls, where he played for several seasons and delivered outstanding performances. He played a crucial role in leading Bengaluru Bulls to victory in the sixth season. His incredible performance in the final match is still fresh in the minds of the fans.
