PKL 10: Top five big players released by teams
These legends of Kabaddi will go under the hammer.
The Pro Kabaddi League season 10 (PKL 10) is just around the corner, and there isn’t much time left for the action to begin. Before this, all the teams released the list of players retained and released ahead of the upcoming season. Most teams have shown trust in young players and retained them, while several seasoned and experienced players have been released. These players will now be part of the action during the 10th season. Bidding during the auction for these players could also be quite competitive. We’ll tell you about five veteran players who have been released by their teams before the 10th season of PKL. Knowing these names might surprise you.
5. Rahul Chaudhari (Jaipur Pink Panthers)
Jaipur Pink Panthers claimed the title of the 9th season of PKL. The team had previously won the championship in the inaugural season of 2014 and secured their second championship during the 9th season. After Patna Pirates, Jaipur became the second team to win the PKL trophy more than once. However, Rahul Chaudhari’s performance wasn’t up to par. In a total of 21 matches, he could only accumulate 73 points. Rahul Chaudhari is one of the finest raiders in PKL history. Nevertheless, his recent performances have not been consistent, which might be the reason for Jaipur releasing him.
4. Mohammed Nabibakhsh (Puneri Paltan)
During the 9th season of PKL, Mohammed Nabibakhsh was part of the Puneri Paltan team. However, his performance wasn’t very impressive. He managed to score only 36 points in 15 matches. This underwhelming performance led to his release from the team. One reason for releasing Nabibakhsh could be that his high price in the previous season’s auction didn’t align with his performance. Mohammed Nabibakhsh will now be part of the auction, and it remains to be seen which team bids for him.
3. Fazel Atrachali (Puneri Paltan)
Under the leadership of Fazel Atrachali, Puneri Paltan reached the finals of the 9th season of PKL and created history. Atrachali’s performance was quite impressive as well. He secured 56 tackle points in 21 matches and remained a force on the defense. Despite expectations, Puneri Paltan decided to release Fazel Atrachali. Perhaps his release could be attributed to his previous season’s high price and the team’s reluctance to retain him at the same price. Fazel Atrachali will now be a part of the auction, and it will be interesting to see which team bids for him.
2. Maninder Singh (Bengal Warriors)
No Kabaddi fan could have anticipated that Maninder Singh would be released by the Bengal Warriors team. Nevertheless, the team’s decision has surprised everyone. Under Maninder Singh’s leadership, Bengal Warriors clinched the title in the 7th season. Apart from this, Maninder has been the player who has consistently led the team’s offense. Releasing him was indeed an unexpected move. It’s possible that Maninder himself expressed interest in entering the auction, as he has been absent from the auction for several seasons. This time, he will also be part of the auction proceedings.
1. Pawan Sehrawat (Tamil Thalaivas)
During an interview with Khel Now, former captain of the Indian Kabaddi team, Anup Kumar, had already hinted that Pawan Sehrawat might not be retained, and that’s what happened. Tamil Thalaivas released Pawan Sehrawat from the team. In the previous season, Pawan was bought for INR 2.26 crore, becoming the most expensive player in the league’s history. However, Pawan suffered an injury early in the season and remained sidelined for the entire season. Tamil Thalaivas’ decision to release him has saved them money, and they can use this budget during the auction. The outcome of the auction for Pawan Sehrawat will depend on the bids he receives.
