Asian Games 2023 Kabaddi Highlights: India thumps Bangladesh by 37 points in their campaign opener

In the Asian Games 2023, the Indian men's kabaddi team had an outstanding start. They convincingly defeated Bangladesh in their opening match. Led by Captain Pawan Sehrawat, Team India dominated Bangladesh with an impressive scoreline of 55-18 in a one-sided contest. The raiders from Team India exhibited exceptional skills, with players like Naveen Kumar, Pawan Sehrawat, and Sachin Tanwar standing out. Arjun Deshwal also made a significant contribution, while Nitesh Kumar excelled in defense.
The starting lineup featured Arjun Deshwal, Pawan Sehrawat, and Naveen Kumar, while on the defensive front, Vishal Bhardwaj, Nitesh Kumar, Parvesh Bhainswal, and Surjeet Singh were given their chance. Vice-captain Sunil Kumar did not participate in the first match. Team India took an early lead, with a score of 12-2 within the first 6 minutes of play. Naveen Kumar showcased impressive raiding skills, and Bangladesh managed to score their first point only in the fourth minute, highlighting the pressure exerted by Team India.
Bangladesh showed strength in defense in Asian Games 2023
Bangladesh displayed resilience in defense during the initial 10 minutes, although Team India continued to dominate, maintaining a 17-3 lead. However, Bangladesh made a comeback attempt later in the game and exhibited solid defensive skills. They executed successful super tackles on Captain Pawan Sehrawat and Naveen Kumar. Nevertheless, Team India led with a score of 24-9 by halftime.
Sachin Tanwar and Akash Shinde got a chance in the second half
In the second half, Sachin Tanwar and Akash Shinde were given the opportunity to play. Naveen Kumar and Arjun Deshwal, both outstanding raiders, were substituted, and Akash Shinde and Sachin Tanwar stepped in. Akash Shinde made an immediate impact with his first successful raid, while Sachin Tanwar showcased his excellent form by executing a super raid. Bangladesh's team was completely wiped out just before full-time, resulting in a significant defeat.
