PKL 10 Semifinal 1: Puneri Paltan qualifies for second consecutive final, knocking out three-time champions Patna Pirates
Three-time champions were denied entry into their fifth final.
When two of the best sides in the league came across each other, entertainment and drama were assured. It was a game of two halves where both sides operated with high intensity in the first half, but Puneri Paltan were all over the place in the second half and have now become the first finalist of PKL 10.
Aslam Indamdar opened the scoring for his side with a bonus point followed by Sachin who striked early for Patna Pirates with a bonus point. Sachin pulled out a reverse toe touch on the highest quality against the best defender in the league Mohamaadreza Chiyaneh before Mohit Goyat scored against Krishan Dhull.
Puneri Paltan eliminated Sachin Tanwar before Patna Pirates pulled off an incredible tackle against Aslam Inamdar. Both teams were on fire because as soon as Puneri Paltan were taking one point, Patna Pirates were killing them back.
Ankit got Mohit Goyat with a clutch ankle hold before Sachin got the better of Pankaj Mohite. Puneri Paltan inflicted the first all-out of the game on Patna Pirates. The table toppers started demolishing the Pirates and did not look back as they took a 9-point lead going into half-time.
Patna Pirates began the second half on the right note after Sachin got a point against Mohit before Aslam Inamdar also got a point in a do-or-die raid. Puneri Paltan inflicted another all-out and the match a one-sided affair. Manjeet then produced a super raid before Mohammadrezaq Chiyaneh pulled off a high-five and brought out his iconic celebration.
And then as the referee blew the full-time whistle, Puneri Paltan emerged in jubilation as they have now made it to their second final in a row. Puneri Palatn were far superior to the Pirates and therefore got a 16 win over them in the first semi-final.
What’s next?
Following their dominant win over the Patna Pirates in Semi-Final 1, Puneri Paltan became the first side to book a spot in the grand finale of PKl 10. Puneri Paltan will face the winner from semi-final 2 in the ultimate game of the season.
