PKL 10: Pawan Sehrawat and Mohammadreza Shadloui headline Team of the Panchkula leg
Panchkula witnessed an end to the impressive league-stage matches.
The 10th season of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL 10) has concluded its league stage matches. This season’s final leg took place in Panchkula. During their home leg, had a mixed performance as they lost two games and won two of the four that they played. After an impressive campaign, it was a sedate end to see them lose their last league game.
The Steelers needed a point to book their playoff spot from their four games when they arrived to play on their home field, and they did so by winning two of them to guarantee their spot in the final six. Several players who gave outstanding performances during the Panchkula leg were selected for the “Team of the Leg.”
Here are the seven picks who made it to the Team.
PKL 10: Team of the Panchkula leg
Raiders
Pawan Sehrawat (Telugu Titans)
Telugu Titans‘ poor season in PKL continued as they ended as wooden spooners for the third consecutive season. The team played two matches in the Panchkula leg; one match ended in a tie, and they lost a close one. Pawan Sehrawat, the captain, gave excellent performances in these two matches. In two games, he scored 36 points in total. In two games, he scored 14 points against U-Mumba and 22 points against the Jaipur Pink Panthers.
Sushil (Bengaluru Bulls)
Bengaluru were searching for a consistent Raider and they found Sushil only at the end of the season. He makes it to the team as the secondary raider in this squad. Sushil finished the Panchkula leg with 33 points in two games. One of these games was also won by his team. In the final league game of the season, the Bulls overcame the Haryana Steelers on their home field, and Sushil played a critical role in that victory. He scored 22 points throughout this game.
Arjun Deshwal (Jaipur Pink Panthers)
Arjun Deshwal has been the raider of the season and has the most number of raid points. Thus far, he has accumulated 262 raid points. He delivered outstanding performances in each of the PKL legs, and he carried that form into the Panchkula leg as well. In this final leg, Arjun Deshwal scored 29 points in two games, with the Jaipur Pink Panthers being victorious in both and has made them favorites for the title.
All-rounder
Mohammadreza Chiyanneh (Puneri Paltan)
After missing out for two weeks, Mohammadreza Chiyanneh was able to secure a spot on the ‘Team of Leg’ once more. The Iranian has been incredible this season, which is why he was frequently selected for the “Team of the Leg.” He contributed significantly to the team’s victory even during the Haryana leg by scoring 11 points. As of right now, he has 10 high fives and a maximum of 92 tackle points and could well breach the 100-point barrier.
Defenders
Rahul Sethpal (Haryana Steelers)
Rahul Sethpal of Haryana Steelers has been selected in this week’s Team of the Leg at the right corner position. Rahul Sethpal played only two matches during his home leg and he scored 11 points. He was rested for a few games to be fresh for the playoffs. He played a very important role in helping the team win the match by scoring eight points against Patna Pirates. Rahul Sethpal has been chosen as the best right-corner defender of this season in the expert choice. He has the most super tackles this season making him one of the toughest defenders to get away with.
Jaideep Dahiya (Haryana Steelers)
The defenders work in pairs and one man who has made Rahul Sethpal more effective is Jaideep Dahiya, the captain of the Haryana Steelers, who has been chosen to play left cover. Despite playing in just two games during his home leg, Jaideep Dahiya scored 13 points in that time. He scored six points against the Patna Pirates and seven points against Puneri Paltan. Jaideep Dahiya made a lot of incredible tackles this season and this duo will not only be a force in this team but also in the playoffs for Haryana.
Deepak Singh (Gujarat Giants)
If there is a team that has made it to the playoffs solely based on the strength of their defense then it is the Gujarat Giants. The two-time finalists have added more muscle with the emergence of Deepak Singh who makes it to this team as a Right cover. Gujarat had one win and one loss in the leg in Haryana. In these two matches, Deepak Singh gave a strong performance. Against the Jaipur Pink Panthers and UP Yoddha squads, he scored 12 points each.
