Nitin Dhankhar won everyone’s hearts with his performance last season.

Nitin Dhankar emerged as a wonderful asset for Bengal Warriorz in PKL season 10. Coming into the team as an NYP and leaving a mark helped him get the recognition he deserved. The fans and the team also awarded him with the title of “Prince” as they came to the end of the previous season. The Prince scored 169 raid points in the 20 matches he played with 41% success raids.

The fans and the team will expect nothing less from him this season as well. With the new coach and a new captain, the Bengal Warriorz have gone through some major changes. However, the fans would want a successful raider like him to step up and keep the momentum going. Recently, Khel Now had a chat with Nitin Dhankar.

Here are some of the excerpts from the interview.

Difference between Pro Kabaddi League and domestic leagues

After reaching this level, the competition is high without a doubt. I mean, the competition is much higher here in comparison to that (domestic level). Everyone does not reach this level. And after coming here, it has been great. I got a nice team; the seniors have been extremely nice as well. Maninder Singh was there, the coach was also very nice, and because they gave me opportunities; I was also able to perform well.

Mindset shift in the last season

My coach and Mr. Maninder used to convey their thoughts to me after game time about the mistakes I committed during the matches. They used to tell me that I should not get hyper on the mat during the matches and that I should keep my cool. Even if I commit a couple of mistakes, I should adapt according to the match’s situation, handle and play with patience.

Training camp for PKL 11

Training has been going on pretty well. Fitness is also very good. We do a good two-hour morning session and then in the evening, we do match practice as well. We play according to the needs of the team at that time, whether it is four or six in the defense, and like that, we keep our practice going in the evening.

Co-ordination with the new NYPs

All the players are working hard and practicing well. They work very hard in their practice and when players arrive at this platform, they think about getting into playing so everyone gives their best during the practice, and gives their everything during the practice, we are having a lot of fun. I am enjoying it even more than the last time. The practice is going on well.

Playing with Fazel Atrachali

The defense has become even stronger after Fazel Atrachali has joined our team. He also keeps the environment calm and keeps the team balanced when he helps the team practice during the game sessions. He doesn’t haste and reads the situation well when he sees us in the game practice. So it is very good for the team and he is the best defender in the league so it will be fun to play with him.

Does the title “Prince” add any extra pressure?

No, nothing like that. It is like performance will happen the way you have put in the hard work before the season. Just give your 100% once you enter the ground. After entering the ground, I do not think about what has happened outside it, I just put my entire focus on the match, despite whatever is going on outside. I just think about how my team can end up on the winning side.

Milestone you want to achieve this season

The main focus is to qualify for the playoffs and then play more. That is the main concern, personal goals are secondary. This is a team game, there is nothing personal. I mean, the team comes first, everything goes according to what the situation asks for. Talking about personal goals, the more the merrier, but let’s keep if I get 200+, it will be good.

Message for the fans

Keep supporting the team and we will bring the trophy home this year.
