U Mumba last defeated Dabang Delhi in Season 6.

The 11th season of India’s premier Kabaddi tournament, PKL 11, is set to kick off. In the second match of Pro Kabaddi League Season 11, U Mumba will face Dabang Delhi K.C.

Dabang Delhi finished third on the table last season, securing 79 points with 13 wins in 22 matches. They eventually lost to Patna Pirates in the Eliminator by just two points. The season 8 champions will be boosted by the return of star raider Naveen Kumar in PKL 11, who was ruled out due to an injury after playing just six matches.

He will be sharing duties with Ashu Malik, who was joint top in the list of most raid points in the previous edition. Delhi, however, suffered a blow, when Siddharth Desai was ruled out of the entire season, due to personal reasons.

On the other hand, U Mumba finished tenth on the table in Season 10, with 45 points and winning just 6 out of their 22 matches. The season 2 champions welcome the famed cover duo of Sunil Kumar and Parvesh Bhainswal in Pro Kabaddi League season 11, with the former set to lead the side too.

In PKL 11 they also will have a new lead raider in the form of Manjeet. Back in the position of right corner will be Rinku, who suffered a season-ending surgery last time after playing 9 matches.

The head-to-head stats of U Mumba and Dabang Delhi give an interesting reading. After winning one match each in the first season, Delhi had to wait until season 5 to get their second victory against Mumba, with the latter winning each of the six matches from the second to the fourth edition.

The Mumbai-based franchise also won all three of their matches against their opposition in season 6. Ever since they have yet to taste success, against a revamped Delhi outfit. The two sides played their only tie in the seventh edition.

The next three seasons have seen the tables completely tilt, with the men in red and blue winning all of their six matches against the men in black and orange. U Mumba will be looking to bring this lean patch to a halt on Friday night in PKL 11.

Dabang Delhi’s biggest win over their opposition occurred in season 9, when they secured a 41-24 victory (17-point margin). On the other hand, U Mumba’s most dominant victory came back in season 6, when they won 44-19, by a massive margin of 25 points. The only stalemate between the two teams was played in season 7, with the scoreline ending at 37 apiece.
