Kabaddi star Deepak Hooda will contest Haryana elections on BJP ticket
Deepak Hooda will contest for MLA in Haryana elections this time.
Former Indian Kabaddi team captain Deepak Niwas Hooda is back in the limelight as he has been named as a BJP candidate for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections. The all-rounder has been with the party for years and there were speculations about his inclusion in the candidate list in the last few weeks.
The fans who were following his social media handles saw him promote the party’s ideals and schemes. The talks strengthened when he renewed his membership of the party and with a post in his handle saying, Now is the perfect time to join this transformative campaign and shape our country’s future.
True to the speculations, the 30-year-old found his name in the list of 67 candidates released by the party. He will be contesting from the Meham constituency out of the 90 seats in the state. The incumbent MLA is an independent candidate who was previously associated with the BJP party. Deepak’s popularity might see him take oath in the assembly.
Deepak Hooda has been unsold in the last two seasons of PKL
The former skipper has not found takers in the Pro Kabaddi League auctions in the last two seasons. He was one of the finest players of the league in its initial years. One of the greatest all-rounders the game has ever produced, he started his career with Telugu Titans. He then moved into Puneri Paltans for the next three seasons.
The season six saw him lead Jaipur Pink Panthers before moving to Bengal Warriorz in season nine. Surprisingly he found no takers in season 10 and with the fate repeating for the upcoming season the 30-year-old has decided to take the political plunge.
