After 11 great seasons, PKL is now about to enter its 12th season.

The Pro Kabaddi League has completed 11 seasons since its inception in 2014. The first four editions of the league featured eight teams, while PKL Season 5 saw four new franchises join the league.

The league has been a resounding success, having unearthed numerous talented players in the sport, particularly over the last few seasons.

Several records have been broken over time in the PKL. The Indian players hold most of the records, while Iranian players do have some to their name. On that note, let’s take a look at the top five interesting stats of PKL:

Most Raid Points – Pardeep Narwal (1801 points)

Pardeep Narwal has 1801 raid points to his name across 10 editions in the Pro Kabaddi League. The Indian left raider has the most raid points in 190 matches, averaging 9.7 raid points per match. Pardeep has 3135 raids and a successful raid % of 54.77. He has 82 Super Raids and 88 Super 10s thus far in the PKL.

Narwal made his PKL debut with Bengaluru Bulls in 2015, before serving Patna Pirates from Season 3 to 7 for five editions of the league. He played for UP Yoddhas in the next three seasons and last played for Bengaluru Bulls in PKL Season 11.

Most Expensive Player – Pawan Sehrawat (2.605 Cr)

Pawan Sehrawat is the most expensive player in PKL history. Telugu Titans roped in the services of the star Indian raider for a whopping price of ₹2.605 Cr in the Season 10 auction. In Season 9, Pawan was signed by Tamil Thalaivas for ₹2.26 Cr.

Pawan has earned 2 Cr+ deals twice in the Pro Kabaddi League Auction – the highest by an Indian player in the league.

Most 2 Crores Bid – Mohammadreza Shadloui (3 times)

Iranian all-rounder Mohammadreza Shadloui has been sold for over 2 Crores thrice in the Pro Kabaddi League. The foreign player was sold for Rs. 2.35 Cr by Puneri Paltan in the PKL Season 10 auction.

Later, in the upcoming season, Haryana Steelers roped in the services of the all-rounder for Rs. 2.07 Cr. Season 11 MVP Shadloui was sold to Gujarat Giants for ₹2.23 Crores in the Season 12 auction. He became the first player to sign three deals worth Rs 2 crore and above in PKL history.

Most Tackle Points – Fazel Atrachali (545 points)

Iranian defender Fazel Atrachali has the most tackle points in the Pro Kabaddi League. The left corner has earned 545 points, including 36 Super Tackles and 32 High 5s. With 944 tackles, Fazel has a tackle success rate of 54% and averages 2.7 successful tackles per match.

The Iranian player made his PKL debut in the second season with U Mumba and moved to Patna Pirates for Season 4.

Fazel represented Gujarat Giants on PKL Season 5, before returning to U Mumba for his second stint with the franchise between PKL Season 6 and 8. He was with Puneri Paltan, Gujarat Giants, and Bengal Warriorz in the last three PKL seasons.

Most Successful Captain – Sunil Kumar (77 wins)

Sunil Kumar is the most successful captain in the Pro Kabaddi League with 77 wins. His wins as captain came from three different teams – Gujarat Giants, Jaipur Pink Panthers, and U Mumba.

The Indian defender began his PKL career with the Patna Pirates in 2016. He played for Gujarat Giants between PKL Season 5 and 8, before leading the Jaipur Pink Panthers for a couple of seasons. In the previous season, he was the captain of former champions U Mumba.
