PKL 11: 3 key players of Haryana Steelers in Pro Kabaddi League season 11
The outfit has decent defenders who can shut down any opposition on its day.
There are plenty of candidates who would back themselves to lift the upcoming 2024-25 Pro Kabaddi League title. Haryana Steelers is one of those outfits which have a realistic chance of winning the competition. They finished as runners-up during season 10 of the prestigious league competition, narrowly losing out on the trophy to Puneri Paltan.
Reaching the final of the Pro Kabaddi League is a massive achievement in itself but failing at the last hurdle was a tough pill to swallow for the Haryana Steelers. They are one of the few teams that have never won the competition. The objective would be to change that in the 11th edition of the league.
Under the leadership of Manpreet Singh, who won the PKL as a player, the Steelers have forged a decent squad that can go one step further this season compared to the last. Their moves in the auction leading up to the 2024-25 PKL season were impressive and the side looks like a strong unit that would thrive defensively.
As the new season of the league approaches, here’s a look at the three key players of Haryana Steelers in the PKL 11:
Vinay
Haryana Steelers have a lack of quality in their raiding department. They have recruited well in the defensive area but their attacking options are less than ideal. Vinay remains one of the key figures in the raiding department going into season 11.
Vinay scored 165 points in the previous season of the PKL, which was his best performance in a single campaign. Having said that, the raider must improve on the 10th edition’s points tally if he wishes to guide the Steelers to the title in the upcoming term.
Mohammadreza Chiyaneh
Acquiring Mohammadreza Chiyaneh in the auction ahead of the 2024-25 PKL season was a major statement by the Haryana Steelers. The side was defensively astute in season 10 but the arrival of the extremely talented Iranian all-rounder adds even more quality to the side. All eyes will be on Chiyaneh who cost the franchise about INR 2.07 crore.
Mohammadreza Chiyaneh scored 99 tackle points in the 10th season of the PKL for the Puneri Paltan which was the highest tally for any individual. He was key in helping the Paltan win the 10th edition of the competition and would like to help the Steelers taste the same success.
Jaideep Dahiya
Jaideep Dahiya was a key figure in the Haryana Steelers’ lineup last season. He scored 68 points for the side, the second most behind teammate Rahul Sethpal. The defender is a consistent performer who loves to dominate the opposition raider with his range and speed in tackling.
The 2024-25 season of the Pro Kabaddi League will be Jaideep Dahiya’s fourth season with the Haryana Steelers. He has consistently secured points in defense for the side and Manpreet Singh would hope for more of the same from his reliable defender when the season kicks off.
