The Patna Pirates have a young and exciting outfit.

The Pro Kabaddi League is back with its eleventh edition (PKL 11) and is expected to be better than ever. Telugu Titans and Bengaluru Bulls will get us underway with the first game of the season followed by a fixture between Dabang Delhi and U Mumba on the opening day. The league’s most successful side Patna Pirates will get their season underway with a clash against the defending champions Puneri Paltan on October 21.

The Pirates have made major changes to their squad and have let go of a lot of big names. Coach Narendra Redhu would like to do better than last season with these new players this time. The three-time champions have added depth in all the departments including young and dynamic players, but the lack of experience could come back to haunt them.

On that note, let’s take a look at the three key players of Patna Pirates in PKL 11.

Sudhakar M (Raider)

Sudhakar is currently Patna Pirates’ best Indian raider having secured more than 100 points last season. He will head the raiding department alongside Jang Kun Lee and will hope to record his best figure in PKL 11. He played a crucial part in leading the Pirates to the semi-finals last season and will be the key figure this time around. His ability to perform in highly intense situations coupled with his consistency will come in very handy for Patna Pirates.

Jang Kun Lee (Raider)

Jang Kun Lee will mark his return to the PKL after being out of action for four years. The South Korean raider has always been a fan favorite in India for his mouth-watering moves on the mat, especially his signature ‘Flying Korean Kick’.

He is one of the best players the league has ever witnessed and brings with him a bag full of experience alongside 471 points in the league under his belt. The onus will be on him to lead the Pirates as he is the only raider in the team to have played more than 60 PKL games.

Shubham Shinde (Defender)

Shubham Shinde is one of Patna Pirates’ best recruits from the auction. The defender comes in and will be expected to lead the backline and fill in the void left by Krishan Dhull. The right-corner defender is known for his skills in stopping raiders on the mat and earning valuable tackle points.

He has gained experience and has established himself as one of the best defenders in the league over the years. Moreover, he has been the most expensive recruit for the Patna Pirates and a lot will be expected from him.
