PKL 11: 3 key players of UP Yoddhas in Pro Kabaddi League season 11

The UP Yoddhas are one of the three teams who will get to play at home in the league stage.

UP Yoddhas had a bitterly disappointing campaign in the 10th edition of the Pro Kabaddi League. They finished in the 11th position on the league table, securing only four wins from 22 matches, suffering 17 defeats, and producing one tie result by the end of the term.

There was a need for introspection after the end of the campaign. As a result, the UP Yoddhas made ambitious moves in the auction ahead of the 2024-25 Pro Kabaddi League season. Individuals like Pardeep Narwal, Gurmeet, and more made their way out of the side and fresh faces came in to change the fortunes of the outfit.

UP Yoddhas roped in extremely talented Bharat by spending a whopping Rs. 1.30 crore during the auction ahead of the 11th edition of the league. Apart from the highly-rated all-rounder, other figures in the squad who could play a vital role and bring success to the team.

Looking at their options and the balance of the team, here are the three key players of UP Yoddhas in PKL 11:

Surender Gill

Surender Gill will be leading the raiding department in the 11th edition of the Pro Kabaddi League for UP Yoddhas. The skipper of the side loves to take charge and set the tone for the rest of the members of the squad. 

Surender Gill can blow hot and cold and that can be sometimes difficult to mitigate. The fans of the UP Yoddhas will hope that the raider, who has scored 510 points in 65 total matches in the history of the PKL, can raise his standards when the competition begins.

Sumit Sangwan

Sumit Sangwan will be the central figure in UP Yoddhas’ defense. The left-corner defender will be contesting his fifth consecutive season in the PKL with the outfit and has scored more than 50 points in each campaign.

In 89 matches, Sumit has amassed 254 tackle points. Jasveer Singh, the head coach of the UP Yoddhas, will be relying on the defender to maintain a high level of performance and rack up points while defending in order to undo the damage of season 10.

Bharat Hooda

Bharat Hooda is the man to watch out for from the UP Yoddhas’ lineup in season 11 of the Pro Kabaddi League. The outfit has spent heavily to secure his services. Jasveer Singh has assembled a defensively strong unit and he needs the raiders to support them by stealing points on the front foot.

Bharat Hooda is tailor-made for such a situation. He thrives under pressure. The raider scored a whopping 282 points in season nine for Bengaluru Bulls and produced 109 points last year during the 10th edition. He would like to get back to his best and help UP Yoddhas secure victories in the process.
