Kabaddi has entered a new calendar year filled with fresh opportunities. The Asian Games are scheduled to take place later this year, around September and October, and teams have already begun their preparations to give their best on the big stage.

While there has been no official announcement regarding the dates of the 4th Men’s Kabaddi World Cup, it is expected to be held soon. Several teams have already started their preparations for this mega event.

India, who won the gold medal at the 2023 Asian Games and are also the defending champions of the Kabaddi World Cup (2016), have begun their preparations.

Selection process for the Indian team

The Indian team selectors for the Kabaddi World Cup and the Asian Games have ensured that every key player who performed well in the Senior Nationals and the Pro Kabaddi League has been included in the practice camp.

However, selection in the camp does not guarantee a spot in the final squad for the marquee events. The selectors will closely monitor each player during the coaching camp, which will be held at the SAI Centre from January 5 to February 5.

Moreover, performances in the upcoming Senior National Championships will also play a crucial role in final team selection.
