Dabang Delhi will play their first match in PKL 11 on October 18.
The Dabang Delhi franchise have announced dual captaincy for the upcoming Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 11. Naveen Kumar Goyat and Ashu Malik are reported to be the co-captains of the franchise, as announced in a recent Instagram post by the franchise.
The announcement comes as Dabang Delhi prepares for the new season which is set to kick off on October 18, 2024. Delhi, who finished third in the league table last season with 13 wins and 79 points are looking to build on their recent success and reclaim the title they won in Season 8.
Dabang Delhi’s recent success can largely be attributed to young raider Naveen Kumar, popularly known as “Naveen Express.” The 24-year-old raider has scored a staggering 1005 raid points from just 91 matches, making him sixth on the all-time list of most raid points gained by any player in PKL history. Although Naveen played only six matches last season due to injury.
Ashu Malik, who replaced Naveen as captain last season due to injury, proved his mettle by finishing as the highest-scoring raider of the league with 276 raid points. Not only as a player but also as a captain, this young player impressed a lot.
Dabang Delhi’s campaign will begin on October 18 when they play against U Mumba at Hyderabad. Delhi will be playing their first nine matches in the southern city, which includes a clash against the home team Telugu Titans on October 26. They will play their first reverse fixture on November 5, when they take on U Mumba. After their match against Tamil Thalaivas on November 8, they will be moving to Noida, a city where they can expect a lot of support considering its proximity to Delhi.
The Naveen Kumar led side will begin their second leg on November 12, with a massive clash against defending champions Puneri Paltan. They will play a total of six matches in the city, again ending the leg with a clash against the Thalaivas, on December 1.
In their third and final leg, in Pune, the Dabang Delhi will start off with a clash on December 5, against the Yoddhas. They will then play the home team on December 9. They will meet the Gujarat Giants on December 23, which will mark the end of the league stages for them.
