Six teams will participate in the Nepal Kabaddi League Season 2.
The inaugural edition of the Nepal Kabaddi League (NKL) took place from January 17 to 31, 2025, at the National Sports Council Covered Hall, Kathmandu.
Six franchises, namely, Biratnagar Bandits, Dhangadi Wild Cats, Himalayan Raiders, Janakpur Knights, Kathmandu Mavericks, and Pokhara Lakers, competed in Season 1 of the tournament. Janakpur Knights, Biratnagar Bandits, Kathmandu Mavericks, and Dhangadi Wild Cats qualified for the playoffs.
The Janakpur-based franchise defeated the Bandits 34-32 in Qualifier 1, while the Mavericks edged past the Wild Cats in a high-scoring thriller 50-45. The Kathmandu Mavericks thrashed the Biratnagar Bandits 48-26 in the second qualifier to book a berth in the summit clash of the Nepal Kabaddi League 2025.
Table-toppers Janakpur Knights defeated the Kathmandu Mavericks 43-41 in a close-fought encounter to lift the inaugural Nepal Kabaddi League title.
Ghanshyam Roka Magar was the best performer last season with a total of 174 points. He also emerged as the Best Raider of the Tournament with 125 raid points, while Tanongsak Srihera bagged the Best Defender of the Tournament award with 35 tackle points.
When will the Nepal Kabaddi League Season 2 start?
Following the success of Season 1, the second edition of the Nepal Kabaddi League is slated to take place from June 5 to 19. Six teams from the previous season will compete in Season 2 with their eyes on the silverware.
Each team will play five league-stage matches, facing the remaining five teams once each in the group stage. The top four teams at the end of the league stage will qualify for the next round of the competition. The playoffs consist of four matches: Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2, and Final.
The Nepal Kabaddi League Season 2 draft will take place closer to the tournament dates. Each team will be allowed to retain and release players ahead of the next season and build their remaining squad during the draft. All franchises are allowed to sign upto three overseas players.
The previous edition saw participation from international players from Bangladesh, Kenya, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.
