These NYP defenders impressed everyone with their superb performances.

The defense determines the outcome of a game of Kabaddi even though the raiders have impressed with their amazing raiding techniques. While youngsters players like Yogesh Dahiya and Ankit showed the world they were coming in to capture it, veteran players like Surjeet Singh and Fazel Atrachali are still going strong. The veterans were outstanding as they had shown themselves to be among the best tacklers in the world. Seeing the young athletes play demonstrates how the sport is developing. These are the top five debutant defenders in PKL 10, which impressed with their excellent defensive guards.

Yogesh Dahiya – Dabang Delhi KC

During the preseason, Rambir Singh Khokhar, the coach of Dabang Delhi KC, boldly stated that Yogesh, the team’s new defender, will be rated among the top three defenders in the league. With 74 points, the 20-year-old finished third on the list of players with the highest tackle points, living up to his coach’s expectations. Yogesh is a right-corner defender who played well in his debut PKL season this year, and he has taken performing at the senior level like a fish out of water while playing for a prestigious team like Dabang Delhi KC. It was no surprise that Yogesh was named as the new young player of the season.

Ashish – Dabang Delhi KC

In Kabaddi defenders hunt in pairs and if Yogesh Dahiya is one of the finds, Ashish is the other guy who took the league by storm. These two rattled the plans of every opposition Raider as their fearlessness was seen in attacking the Raiders. Ashish scored 48 points in 19 games as he made an experienced campaigner like Vishal Bharadwaj warm the bench as the rookie took over the left corner position. It was the performance of these two that helped the season eight champions qualify for playoffs despite missing star Raider Naveen Kumar.

Ankit Jaglan – Patna Pirates

Patna Pirates is one team that never shies away from throwing up new talents and the unearthing of Ankit Jaglan is one such feat this season. Spending a whopping 31.5 lakhs in the Auction, many expected him to be another promising star and was given important defensive duties by the Patna Pirates. Ankit, was up for the task with an outstanding showing, finishing 23 games with 66 tackle points and silencing his detractors.

Parteek – Bengaluru Bulls

Despite their difficulties this season, the Bengaluru Bulls would be happy to discover Parteek Dahiya, a quality left-cover defender. He played 13 games and scored 27 points, leaving everyone impressed. He distinguished himself by scoring six tackle points in one game against Puneri Paltan, the eventual champions. While it is early times for the left-cover defender, under the watchful eyes of Randhir Singh Sehrawat he will flourish to become an excellent player.

Milad Jabbari – Telugu Titans

It was yet another season to forget for Telugu Titans as they finished last for the third consecutive season. One of their bright spots was Iranian defender Milad Jabbari.
