BC Ramesh had earlier guided Puneri Paltan to their first-ever title in PKL 10.

Defending champions Puneri Paltan head coach BC Ramesh stepped down from his position following a string of poor performances in Pro Kabaddi 2024 (PKL 11). The decision came after Puneri Paltan’s crushing 43-29 defeat to U Mumba.

Taking to social media, Puneri Paltan shared the news while adding that he will now take up a new role in the advisory committee and will become the new team advisor.

“Our coach, BC Ramesh steps into a new role. He will now be part of the advisory team, where his insights will continue to fuel our ambitions, ” the post read.

BC Ramesh’s journey and success in PKL

Puneri Paltan‘s journey to Pro Kabaddi League glory wouldn’t have been possible without the expertise of BC Ramesh. A kabaddi legend and a 2001 Arjuna Award winner, Ramesh has a knack for turning teams into champions. After guiding the Paltan to their first-ever PKL final in Season 9, he took it a step further last season, leading them to their maiden title.

Ramesh isn’t new to success in the PKL. Back in Season 6, he helped Bengaluru Bulls win the trophy as their assistant coach. Then, as head coach of the Bengal Warriors, he led them to their first and only PKL title in Season 7.

Outside the PKL, Ramesh’s achievements are just as impressive. He coached Karnataka to a silver medal at the National Games and even took charge of the Argentine men’s team during the Kabaddi World Cup. His experience on both the domestic and international stage speaks volumes about his knowledge of the game.

However, PKL 11 has been a different narrative for him and Puneri Paltan. While they started out really strong, losing their captain and star all-rounder Aslam Inamdar proved to be a crushing blow for the Paltans. They currently sit at the seventh spot in the PKL 11 table with seven wins in 16 matches.

However, it remains to be seen if the change at the helm can overturn the fortunes of the defending champions when they take on UP Yoddhas on December 7 at their home, Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune.
