PKL 11: Young players are very important in Pro Kabaddi League, says Haryana Steelers' CEO

Both Vinay and Shivam Patare finished in the top 10 raiders in PKL 11.

Haryana Steelers claimed their maiden PKL title with a 32-23 win over the Patna Pirates in the Pro Kabaddi 2024 (PKL 11) final, thanks to standout performances from stars like Mohammadreza Shadloui and Jaideep. However, the contributions of young players like Vinay and Shivam Patare were equally vital to the team’s success.

Vinay and Shivam Patare played crucial roles in the Steelers’ PKL 11 campaign. Vinay scored 166 points in 24 matches, delivering six Super 10s and maintaining a 77.8% not-out rate. Shivam was equally impressive, earning 167 points from 24 matches with six Super 10s and a raid success rate of 58.08%.

“I am so happy for them. The players. the coaches., the team have come a long way from the time that Manpreet Singh joined us. We finished seventh for a couple of seasons, then we became runners up but what never stopped for us was trying, scouting and this is the result of all of that which is finally showing and I am happy for all of them. They have worked so hard, the pressure they have handled and I have seen them mature so much, ” said the Haryana Steelers CEO speaking to the media after the PKL 11 winning celebrations.

Shivam Patare delivered a stellar performance in the final, scoring 9 crucial points that kept the Haryana Steelers ahead during key moments. His ability to step up under pressure showed not just his talent but also his maturity as a young player in the high-stakes game.

“See in Pro kabaddi young players are very important. Nurturing youngsters is very important, even Jaideep joined us four years back as a youngster and now he is the captain of the team. So the youngsters, with their exuberance, energy they are very important to the future of the sport, ” he concluded.
