PKL 11: Key battles to watch out for in Match 74, Patna Pirates vs UP Yoddhas

UP Yoddhas have won two of their last three matches in PKL 11.

Patna Pirates will play UP Yoddhas in the Pro Kabaddi 2024 (PKL 11) at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex on Sunday. The match with be the second of the PKL 11 between the two sides with Patna Pirates coming out on top in the first match.

The match finished with the scoreline 37- 42 in favour of the three-time champions. Devank was the top scorer from the two sides as he completed his Super 10. Other key performers for Patna included the likes of Deepak Rathee and young raider Ayan.

For the Yoddhas, Hitesh finished with four tackle points and Gagan Gowda collected nine points through the raid. The now in-form raider Bhavani Rajpoot was overlooked for the likes of Gagan Gowda and Surinder Gill.

Since the match, Patna has played six matches and won four of them in PKL 11, losing the other two. Whereas, UP Yoddhas have played five matches, winning two, losing two and sharing points with the defending champions Patna Pirates.

Patna Pirates now sit in the fifth place in the PKL 11 table with 38 points from 11 matches and UP Yoddhas have started climbing their way back up with three matches unbeaten on the trot, claiming the eighth position on the table in the league table with 33 points from 11 matches. 

For the Yoddhas, the win will help them build momentum going into the most important phase of the league. Patna, meanwhile, will hope for the exceptional form of their raiders to continue against what looks like a very vulnerable defence of UP Yoddhas. Both the teams have, statistically speaking, the top three raiding units of the league. However, the defensive unit of the Yoddhas ranks third from the bottom when it comes to average tackle points.

Bhavani Rajpoot vs Ankit Jaglan

Ankit Jaglan is the defender with the eighth-most tackle points in PKL 11. The all-rounder has 34 tackle points from 11 matches, with four super-tackles and a High 5 in the league. He is the most aggressive tackler in the Pirates’ defence. 

Bhavani Rajpoot, on the other hand, is the most in-form raider from the UP Yoddhas side in PKL 11. He has three consecutive Super 10s in the league. He totals for 57 points in the league. Bhavani would be raring to go at the Pirates after he was snubbed by Jasveer Singh in the previous fixture between the two sides.

Devank vs Sumit Sangwan

Devank is the main raider of the Pirates this season in PKL 11. He has 131 raid points and seven Super 10s from 11 matches. He also leads the league for most super raids in the league. Devank scored a Super 10 in the previous match against UP Yoddhas earlier in the Hyderabad Leg.

Sumit Sangwan is the left cover of the UP Yoddhas and the defender with the most tackle points in the league for them. He has 36 tackle points from 11 matches, the sixth most in the league. He has four super tackles.

Ayan Lohchab vs Hitesh

Ayan is the find of the season along with fellow raider Devank. He started the season slow but already has amassed 87 points from 11 matches, the seventh most in the league. He has four Super 10s in the league.

Hitesh is the replacement for Nitesh, who joined Bengal Warriorz in the auction. Hitesh has filled the shoes of the experienced defender amicably, scoring 29 tackle points from 11 matches. Hitesh has three High 5s in the league this season.
