On the team’s performance

Maninder Singh got the Bengal Warriorz off to a strong start, dominating the early stages by scoring most of the team’s initial points. His efforts put the UP Yoddhas on the back foot in the opening minutes, while Nitin Dhankhar provided solid support, keeping up the pressure on the Yoddhas.

“Other teams know how we play, how I play, how Maninder plays. But they don’t know about these young players and that is where these things work out. But Sushil was exceptional today,” said Captain Fazel reflecting on the win.

Despite their early struggles, the UP Yoddhas managed to claw their way back, leveling the score at 8-8 midway through the first half. The Bengal Warriorz fought back and headed into halftime with a slim 12-11 lead. Bharat led the scoring for the Yoddhas with five points by the break.

On facing U Mumba next in PKL 11

Bengal Warriorz will now face U Mumba in the PKL 11 on October 26th in Hyderabad itself. U Mumba are coming off a win after losing their PKL 11 opener.

Speaking on facing them, Fazel said, “I don’t care about who we are playing. I just care about my team and how we play and if we play well I do not see who is against us.”

On the loss in PKL 11

Both teams approached the second half cautiously, with the UP Yoddhas getting on the scoreboard first. The game remained closely contested as both sides exchanged points, with Maninder Singh, Nitin Dhankhar, Sushil Kambrekar, and Fazel Atrachali keeping the Bengal Warriorz ahead. Bharat continued to fight hard for the UP Yoddhas, but the Warriorz held a narrow lead midway through the half.

“Situations and losses will be there. All the teams are good, the competition will be good. So win or lose doesn’t matter so much, but we will prepare with the same motivation as we did, ” said UP Yoddhas coach.

As the clock ticked down, Nitin Dhankhar’s crucial ALL OUT on the UP Yoddhas extended the Warriorz’s lead, followed by an exceptional defence led by Fazel Atrachali. Although Bharat and Bhavani Rajput tried to close the gap for the UP Yoddhas, the Bengal Warriorz held firm. In the end, they secured their first victory of the PKL 11 season with a well-earned team effort.
