On Sushil’s performance in the PKL 11 game
This nail-biting game saw the Bengal Warriorz record their second consecutive tie in PKL 11. Sushil Kambrekar led the scoring for the Bengal Warriorz with an impressive 10 points.
“This was a very tough match. In the last few minutes, I had chances to tackle. But I didn’t wanna take a chance. Sushil, however, played well. Every match we play a little better. I am happy with the result, ” said Bengal Warriorz captain Fazel Atrachali reflecting on the game.
“Coach has kept his trust in me and that’s why I can play well. Fazel has also kept his trust in me. During the raids, the captain motivated me a lot, ” added Sushil on the game.
On Fazel’s historic 500 points in PKL
At the same time, Fazel Atrachali made history by becoming the first player in PKL to reach 500 tackle points. He took about 173 matches to achieve the feat.
“I had never thought I would become one of the best defenders in PKL. 21 years ago someone told me Kabaddi is not for me. Every year they say I am finished. I have worked hard, overcome injuries and now I am 32 years old and I have 500 points now, ” said Fazel.
“There is no doubt Fazel is the number 1 defender in the history of the league. He still has a few years to go and I am sure he will achieve more milestones,” added coach Surve.
The match began cautiously, with both teams keeping it tight. Puneri Paltan, led by Mohit Goyat, took an early lead, but the Bengal Warriorz fought back, thanks to Praveen Thakur and captain Atrachali. Just before halftime, Puneri Paltan surged ahead, closing the first half with a 15-12 lead.
On giving away the lead in the PKL 11
After the break, Puneri Paltan’s Gaurav Khatri extended their lead with an ALL-OUT on Nitin Dhankhar. However, Sushil Kambrekar soon struck back with an ALL OUT of his own, keeping the Bengal Warriorz in contention.
“Sushil played very well, he took a lot of points. The tackle we made on him was a little loose but Sushil is playing well. I think my team gave him some points,” said the coach.
As the match neared its conclusion, Bengal took a slight lead, only for Puneri Paltan to level it in the final minute, ending this PKL 11 clash in a hard-fought draw.
