On Sudhakar, Jang Kun Lee’s absence from the starting line
This win took Haryana Steelers to the top of the PKL 11 table, showcasing a well-rounded team performance. Star players Mohammadreza Shadloui, Shivam Patare, Vinay, and Rahul all contributed crucially, overpowering Patna’s efforts led by Devank Dalal and Ayan Lohchab. However, fans have been eager to M Sudhakar and Jang Kun Lee in action.
“Devank and Ayan is a set combination that has been working for us, it is not like we don’t want to play Sudhakar, we do, but it’s just that this combination is working for now, ” revealed Patna Pirates coach.
“We can only play three raiders right now, we have Devank, Ayan, Sudhakar, so if there is a game where we need him, we will play Lee too, in the right situation, ” he added.
The match saw an early spark as Vinay’s two-point raid put Haryana ahead, followed by Shivam’s quick raids and strong defensive support from Rahul and Shadloui, leading to an ALL OUT on the Pirates.
This momentum allowed Haryana to build a six-point lead by halftime, with the score at 20-14. Despite Patna’s attempts to close the gap, Haryana’s lead remained intact through steady defensive plays, including a Super Tackle on Ayan.
On Haryana facing Tamil Thalaivas next in PKL 11
In the final minutes, Patna Pirates staged a comeback, pulling within one point after executing an ALL OUT. Yet, a crucial error by Patna handed Haryana the advantage, allowing them to restore their five-point lead swiftly.
With composure and strategic play, Haryana held on to seal the 37-32 victory, maintaining their unbeaten streak and claiming the top spot in PKL 11. Haryana Steelers will now go on to face Tamil Thalaivas next in PKL 11.
“I am not taking any team lightly. It all depends on the match day. Tamil Thalaivas are in a very good form, so I or my team will not take the match lightly, ” said Haryana Steelers coach Manpreet Singh.
