On his performance against Puneri Paltan
Led by Arjun Deshwal’s stellar 16-point performance, the Panthers completed the double over Puneri Paltan this season, showcasing their title aspirations in PKL 11.
The first 10 minutes of the match were closely contested, with Akash Shinde and Neeraj Narwal trading successful raids. However, it was Arjun Deshwal who turned the tide for the Jaipur Pink Panthers by inflicting the first ALL OUT of the match.
“I was not happy with my performance the last couple of days because I was not able to give the team the win they expected. So today we came with a lot of motivation and I am very happy with the win, ” said Arjun.
“We made mistakes today too, but that is normal. When you play, and win, you make mistakes as well. That is normal but we played as a team and won, that it important too. So we have two days now, we will see what can be done before our next match, ” added Arjun.
On the road forward
His brilliant raid, combined with strong defensive efforts from Reza Mirbagheri, gave the Panthers an 8-point lead at halftime. Jaipur Pink Panthers will now go on to face UP Yoddhas next in PKL 11.
“UP Yoddhas are a good team. They have been playing well the last couple of days, even their offence and defence are working well too. So these two days that we have, we will make the plan. We have won against them before too and we need to keep our momentum because all the matches from now on will be tough, ” said Arjun.
On Aslam Inamdar’s absence
In the second half, Deshwal continued his PKL 11 heroics, securing a Super 10 while inflicting a second ALL-OUT on Puneri Paltan. Paltan actually seemed to be impacted after losing captain Aslam Inamdar to an injury, however, vice-captain Pankaj Mohite seemed to dismiss that probability.
“I don’t think Aslam’s injury has affected us. The team does not work only for one person. But Aslam is getting better, he is working on his recovery, ” said Pankaj.
Despite efforts from Mohit Goyat and Pankaj Mohite, Puneri Paltan’s defence struggled to contain the relentless Panthers. Costly errors, including a Do-or-Die Raid misstep, sealed their fate in this PKL 11 clash.
