Maninder Singh stands third in the list of raiders with the most raid points in PKL history with 1503 points to his name.

The Patna Pirates edged out the Bengal Warriorz in a thrilling 38-35 victory in the last Pro Kabaddi 2024 (PKL 11) match at the Noida Indoor Stadium on Sunday.

Speaking to the media, Bengal Warriorz captain and Iranian powerhouse Fazel Atrachali and coach shared their thoughts on the PKL 11 match.

On Maninder Singh’s impact

Devank Dalal was the star for Patna, racking up 13 points, including a Super 10, taking his tally to 194 raid points in PKL 11. Meanwhile, Deepak completed a well-earned High 5.

Despite the loss, Bengal Warriorz’ Maninder Singh created history by becoming only the second player to reach 1500 raid points in PKL history, joining Pardeep Narwal in the elite club.

“You know it’s a great thing we have a legendary player like Maninder in our team. He has been playing at the top level for 10 years and that is not easy. So many good players are playing for 1-2 seasons and then going, but he is consistently good and we are proud of him and his achievements,” said Fazel Atrachali.

“Maninder is one of the biggest raiders in the league and he has proved it. He might have struggled a few matches because of injury but he is back in his form, ” added Bengal coach.

On their performance in PKL 11

The first half saw Bengal Warriorz display strong defensive strategies, keeping Patna’s raiders, including Devank and Ayan Lohchab, in check.

“You know this season, all the teams are very good, you make one mistake and that’s it. Our team did play very well but some basic mistakes cost us the match,” said Fazel Atrachali.

On their road ahead

However, Devank turned the tide with a spectacular Super Raid, giving Patna a 19-15 lead at halftime. In the second half of this PKL 11 battle, Bengal relied heavily on Maninder and Nitin Kumar Dhankar to keep the fight alive. They will now go on to face the table toppes, Haryana Steelers in the first match of the Noida leg.

“What we can do is what we have been doing the entire time. We can fight. Win or lose we will see later, but we are here to fight, ” said Fazel.

“We have defeated Haryana Steelers before as well and I want to do that one more time in Pune, and I think we can defeat them, ” said the Bengal Warriorz coach.

Patna Pirates inflicted the first ALL-OUT on Bengal, gaining a significant edge. Although Bengal clawed back through Mayur Kadam’s Super Tackle and Vishwas S’s efforts, it wasn’t enough. Maninder’s Super 10 and record milestone shone in the loss, but the Pirates secured their hard-fought win in PKL 11.
