On becoming the captain with the most wins in PKL

Ajit Chauhan starred with 12 points, supported by Manjeet’s 5, while Sunil Kumar and Sombir registered High-5s for U Mumba. For the home side, Pankaj Mohite stood out with 9 points, though his efforts fell short of reversing the outcome.

The match also saw Sunil Kumar create a historic feat and become the captain with most wins in the history of the Pro Kabaddi League.

“I am very happy to have achieved this feat in PKL. I had learned all about captaincy from Anup Kumar and Ajay Thakur and hence I dedicate this feat to them and I dedicate this win to them as well, ” said U Mumba captain Sunil Kumar.

“Sunil has been a captain for 6-7 years now and he knows how good he is. When his mind is cool and he is calm like today, he plays very well, and I hope he can continue doing the same for the years to come,” added U Mumba coach.

On facing his former team Jaipur Pink Panthers in PKL 11

The first half saw U Mumba maintain early intensity, with Ajit Chauhan and Manjeet driving their offence. Puneri Paltan responded through Pankaj Mohite, whose impactful raids and defensive support helped inflict an ALL OUT, giving the defending champions a 19-16 halftime lead.

“This is life, one time you are playing for one team and then for another. I have played for two seasons at Jaipur and they have been great, I even lifted the trophy with them. Jaipur is a good team and Arjun, I can say is the best team of the league, so it will be a good match for sure”

However, U Mumba came out stronger in the second half. Ajit Chauhan’s Super Raid immediately erased the deficit, setting the tone for a dominant display. Completing his Super 10, Chauhan inflicted an ALL OUT on Puneri Paltan, widening the gap. Despite Pankaj Mohite’s attempts to rally, U Mumba’s defence, led by Sunil Kumar and Sombir, proved unyielding.

Manjeet sealed the match with a late ALL OUT, ensuring U Mumba’s 11th win in 24 derby meetings, as PKL 11’s Maharashtra Derby ended with the visitors taking the bragging rights.
