PKL 11: Pardeep Narwal, Pawan Sehrawat headline Team of the Week for Pro Kabaddi 2024 GW 1

Many players performed brilliantly in the first week of PKL 11.

The first week of Pro Kabaddi League Season 11 is done and dusted and all the teams have shown a glimpse of how intense and competitive this PKL 11 season is going to be. Defending champions Puneri Paltans, Jaipur Pink Panthers, and UP Yoddhas showed what dominance looks like, while Tamil Thalaivas, Bengal Warriorz, and U Mumba showed that they are not here to let things go easy.

Although Pardeep Narwal-led Bengaluru Bulls, Pawan Sehrawat’s Telugu Titans didn’t have the start to PKL 11 they had hoped for, but the captains led by example, delivering stellar performances that showed why they are the biggest names of the tournament. That being said let’s look at the best performers of the week in every position in PKL 11 week 1.

Raiders:

Pardeep Narwal (Centre)

The Bengaluru Bulls‘ legendary raider, Pardeep Narwal, seems to be back in his old form this season. The ‘Dubki’ King scored 28 points in three games. Not only that, he even created a piece of history crossing 1700 points.

Although his team has struggled with losses, Narwal’s performance has been remarkable. His standout performance came against UP Yoddhas, where he scored 16 points in a single match, marking him as a top contender in PKL 11.

Pawan Kumar Sehrawat (Left in)

Telugu Titans’ captain, Pawan Kumar Sehrawat, also found a spot in the Team of the Week for PKL 11. Despite Telugu Titans managing only one win in three matches, Sehrawat’s performance has shone brightly and he led by example. With a total of 30 points in three games, he is the second-highest raider of the week.

Arjun Deshwal (Right in)

Jaipur Pink Panthers’ captain, Arjun Deshwal, has not only emerged as the top raider of the first week in PKL 11, scoring a remarkable 37 points in just three matches but has been the most outstanding player. His team has secured two wins out of three games so far, with Deshwal consistently delivering impactful performances and leading by example.

Defenders:

Sumit Sangwan (Left Corner)

Holding down the left corner for UP Yoddhas, Sumit Sangwan has earned his spot in the PKL 11 Team of the Week. With 14 points across three matches, Sangwan has been a powerhouse on defence, including a stellar 9-point performance against Bengaluru Bulls. His contributions have proven crucial in each game, making him one of the top left corners to watch this season.

Gaurav Khatri (Right Corner)

Puneri Paltan’s right corner specialist, Gaurav Khatri, has also made waves in PKL 11. His defensive expertise shined as he scored 7 points against Haryana Steelers and added another 6 and 1 points in games against Patna Pirates and Tamil Thalaivas, respectively. In total, he has amassed 14 points over three matches.

Abinesh Nadarajan (Right Cover)

Playing in the right cover position for Puneri Paltan, Abinesh Nadarajan has shown exceptional defensive skill. Accumulating 7 points over three matches, Nadarajan has been pivotal in securing two wins for his team. His positioning and sharp defensive manoeuvres have highlighted him as a key player for Puneri Paltan in PKL 11.

Surinder Dehal (Left Cover)

Although Bengaluru Bulls faced consecutive defeats in PKL 11’s opening week, Surinder Dehal’s defensive play has been one bright spot for the team. With 8 points across three games, including a High Five against Telugu Titans, Dehal’s impact on defence has been substantial, earning him a well-deserved spot in the Team of the Week.
