UP Yoddhas are at the second position in the points table with three wins.

The second week of Pro Kabaddi League 11 (PKL 11) is up and running and the excitement will go up a notch when two powerhouses, UP Yoddhas, and Haryana Steelers face each other at the Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad.

UP Yoddhas kicked off PKL 11 with a stellar win over Dabang Delhi and have maintained the momentum throughout. They followed it up with a win against Bengaluru Bulls. Although they succumbed to a narrow loss against Bengal Warriorz, they jumped back to form with a thrilling win over Gujarat Giants.

As for the Haryana Steelers, they kicked off PKL 11 with a loss against defending champions Puneri Paltan. But they have bounced back in style. They went on to win two consecutive games against Jaipur Pink Panthers and Dabang Delhi.

Players to watch out for:

Surender Gill (UP Yoddhas)

UP Yoddhas captain Surender Gill has seamlessly taken over the raiding mantle following Pardeep Narwal’s departure. Gill has stepped up with confidence, forming a promising partnership with all-rounder Bharat Hooda and consistently putting points on the board. After a slow start in the opening match against Delhi, he bounced back with a standout performance, scoring 17 points in the Yoddhas’ victory over the Bulls. Currently, he’s the team’s second-highest scorer with 25 points across four games.

Gill’s raiding stats highlight his efficiency: he’s completed 45 raids with a success rate of 46.66% and maintains a solid “Not Out” rate of 75.55%. With 21 raid points and one Super 10, he’s averaging 5.25 raid points per game. On the defensive side, he’s made his mark with one Super Tackle, a 75% tackle success rate, and four tackle points.

Mohammedreza Shadloui (Haryana Steelers)

After a stellar PKL 10 season with Puneri Paltan, where Mohammadreza Chiyaneh racked up an impressive 99 tackle points, the Iranian defensive ace has moved to the Haryana Steelers for a record INR 2.07 crore. The Steelers are counting on Chiyaneh’s defensive mastery to bolster their backline in PKL 11, but his start has been a bit more restrained than expected.

In his debut match against Dabang Delhi, Chiyaneh secured 4 tackle points with a respectable 60% success rate, though he didn’t contribute offensively. Over his first three matches this season, he’s accumulated a total of 10 tackle points, averaging 3 successful tackles per game and achieving a 47% tackle success rate.

His lone Super Tackle so far hints at the impactful plays he’s known for, even though his transition hasn’t included the standout defensive displays that have defined his PKL career. Offensively, Chiyaneh has added 6 raid points from 15 attempts, maintaining a 40% success rate.
