PKL 12: Top five most shocking buys at auction

PKL 12 has given some players another chance to make an impact in the league.
The recently concluded Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12) auction was full of emotions, drama, and memorable moments. To outdo the other competing teams and strengthen their squads, the respective PKL teams were aggressive in their approach to buying players.
While bidding wars were observed for high-profile players, the usual suspects, one also noted that PKL teams were spending money on individuals who were unlikely to find any buyers. This reflects the good faith shown by the bidders in the players and their ability to perform impressively despite recent poor performances.
As the dust settles after the completion of a high-octane bidding battle across two days, let’s look at the top five shocking buys of the PKL 12 auction:
Jai Bhagwan – Telugu Titans
Jai Bhagwan got another lease of life in the Pro Kabaddi League after Telugu Titans secured his services in the auction. The raider scored 46 points in 12 matches in Season 11 while playing for Bengaluru Bulls. Moving forward, season 12 could be make or break for Bhagwan, who is desperate to impress in the league.
Jang Kun Lee – Bengal Warriorz
South Korean star Jang Kun Lee was signed by Bengal Warriorz in the PKL 12 auction for a sum of ₹13 lakh. Interestingly, he only played one match last season and scored a single point. It’s unclear what the strategy is behind signing Lee, but Bengal fans are hopeful the move will be a success.
Ghanshyam Magar – Haryana Steelers
Ghanshyam Magar was re-signed by Haryana Steelers using their FBM card for a ₹13.00 lakh amount. The raider played only two matches last season and scored three points. Season 12 will be his third in the PKL and potentially his last chance to showcase his talent before going unsold.
Mayur Kadam – Bengal Warriorz
Mayur Kadam will represent Bengal Warriorz in season 12 of the Pro Kabaddi League after the outfit paid ₹13 lakh to bring him back. Notably, the Warriorz used their FBM card to recruit him again for the upcoming season, showing faith in his ability. Although he played 17 matches, he scored only 34 points last season.
Maninder Singh – Patna Pirates

Patna Pirates bought Maninder Singh in the season 12 auction to strengthen their raiding department. He scored 102 points in Season 11, his lowest ever in a single PKL campaign. They paid only ₹13 lakh to buy a player of his stature, which is indicative of his downfall in recent years.
It was a shock to see out-of-form Maninder getting another chance in PKL 12, as many expected him to go unsold just like Pardeep Narwal.
