Mohammadreza Shadloui was the most expensive player in the PKL 12 Auction.

Mohammadreza Shadloui is set for a fresh start in Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 as he joins Gujarat Giants after the franchise spent a whopping ₹2.23 crore to bring him on board at the PKL 12 auction.

The Iranian all-rounder, who has become one of the top names in the league, was expected to attract huge bids, and he lived up to the hype. Soon after the intense auction, Mohammadreza Shadloui took to Instagram to share his feelings.

“Excited to start this new chapter with Gujarat Giants. Grateful for the trust and ready for the grind. Let’s build something unforgettable together,” he wrote in his Instagram story.

The Iranian star’s emotional reaction reflects his eagerness to embrace this new phase of his PKL journey, now with a team hungry for its first title.

Gujarat Giants go all in for the Iranian showstopper

The auction room lit up the moment Mohammadreza Shadloui’s name was announced. Telugu Titans kicked things off at the base price of ₹30 lakh, but Gujarat Giants quickly raised the stakes, jumping to ₹1 crore in no time. With one of the largest purses going into the auction, Gujarat didn’t hesitate to push further.

As the battle intensified, Patna Pirates — Mohammadreza Shadloui’s former team — and Bengaluru Bulls entered the bidding war. The price soared past the ₹2 crore mark, raising eyebrows across the room. At ₹2 crore, it was clear Haryana Steelers wouldn’t be able to use their Final Bid Match (FBM) card, given their limited purse of ₹2.46 crore.

Eventually, Patna pulled out, and Gujarat went head-to-head with the Bulls before finally securing the Iranian all-rounder for ₹2.23 crore — a move that used over half of their remaining budget.

Proven match-winner joins Gujarat’s title quest

Having already won back-to-back PKL titles and last season’s MVP award, Mohammadreza Shadloui brings not just experience but a winning mentality. His dominance in both defence and offence makes him a complete package. With 139 points in the previous season alone, including 59 raid points, he has proven to be more than just a defender.

Now, all eyes will be on how Shadloui performs in his new colours. Gujarat Giants fans will be hoping that the Iranian powerhouse can lead them to their maiden PKL title, just like he did with Puneri Paltan.
