PKL 12: Joginder Narwal gives major update on Ashu Malik's injury & return timeline

Bengal Warriorz registered their fourth win in PKL 12 by defeating Dabang Delhi.

The Bengal Warriorz pulled a rabbit out of the hat and took down table-toppers Dabang Delhi in match 73 of Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12).

Warriorz were brave enough to dominate the league’s most in-form side and handed Delhi only their second loss of the season. Skipper Devank Dalal looked a little less convincing, but still managed to rack up his eleventh Super 10 in as many games.

Thoughts on the win

Bengal Warriorz head coach Naveen Kumar opened up about his thoughts on the game and said, “The match was very close. In the end, we made some mistakes as well, and we were a bit hasty, which gave them some points. But, overall, both teams played well. I enjoyed today’s match because our defense performed well.”

Road ahead

Skipper Devank Dalal spoke about his side’s plan for the remainder of the season and said, “I would say that the previous matches that we lost, there is no problem, no trouble, but the upcoming matches are all important for us, and we will play only to win.”

“We can go up only if we win, and then the team will also be in the set, so this is a good chance for us to go up tomorrow,” he added.

Thoughts on the next game against U Mumba

Devank also spoke about his feelings ahead of the next game against U Mumba and said, “I believe that the biggest player is Sunil Kumar. I idolize him as a captain and player. I believe that if we keep him out, then we will win because he makes the strategy and he runs the team, so we have to keep him out as much as possible.”

Thoughts on the game

Dabang Delhi head coach Joginder Narwal spoke about his thoughts on the match and said, “Absolutely, it was a very tough match, and the team that has the best raider in the league won, and they have a good coach, and he was also my teammate. It is not about where the team is in the table; that is a different matter, but they are a good team.”

Update on Ashu Malik’s injury

Narwal also gave a quick update on Ashu Malik’s availability and said, “Ashu’s injury is minor and nothing serious. I will only let him play if he is 100% fit; otherwise, I won’t field him. Everyone did well, and when everyone does well, a team is formed, and then the work gets done.”
