PKL 12: Top five best moments from Day 21 matches

Puneri Paltan holds the top spot at the end of Day 21 of PKL 12.

Day 21 of Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12) began with a thrilling contest between Haryana Steelers and Puneri Paltan. Haryana inflicted an early all-out on the Paltan and maintained a 9-point lead at halftime.

The Paltan made a late comeback in the second half, courtesy of the brilliance of Pankaj Mohite, and reduced the lead to just 2 points. However, Haryana held their nerves and registered a thrilling victory.

The second match was a Southern Derby, where Telugu Titans faced Tamil Thalaivas. The Titans came with pinpoint tactics and dominated throughout the clash. The Thalaivas were completely outplayed and lost by 14 points to the Titans.

The day had everything, from thrilling moments to brilliant performances. On that note, let’s take a look at the top five moments from Day 21 of PKL 12:

5. Vijay Malik’s Super 10

Telugu Titans have had a mixed season so far. They lost their first two matches, then bounced back with three consecutive wins, but before this match, they had suffered three consecutive defeats.

Today, the team wanted a win to end their losing streak, and Vijay Malik delivered in style. Leading from the front, he scored his third Super 10 of the season. Bharat provided much-needed support with 8 raid points, and together, the duo helped the Titans secure two crucial.

4. Arjun Deshwal Fails

Arjun Deshwal is performing brilliantly this season as well like in the previous seasons and since being declared the captain, he has been leading the Tamil Thalaivas in every match.

But today, he couldn’t make much of an impact as the Titans came fully prepared against him. He managed only 7 raid points and was tackled 5 times by the Titans’ defence.

With no other raider stepping up on his off day, the team had to suffer a one-sided loss to the Titans. The fans will be hoping that Arjun quickly returns to form and, this time, receives the much-needed support from the other raiders.

3. Vinay’s Super 10

Puneri Paltan has been the best defensive side in this PKL, top in the stats for both total tackle points and average tackle points. But today, they struggled against one man, Vinay.

From the very start, Haryana dominated the game, thanks to smart raiding from Vinay and Shivam Patare. The duo kept piling up raid points and pushed Puneri Paltan onto the back foot.

Vinay registered his second Super 10 of the season, finishing with 13 raid points, and was the main reason behind Haryana’s victory. He was well supported by Shivam Patare, who contributed 8 raid points to seal the win.

2. Pankaj Mohite Super 10

Pankaj Mohite was the lone warrior for the Puneri Paltan today. With the other raiders failing to score, he stepped up and scripted a comeback. Using his speed and smartness, he forced several defenders to step out of bounds while also cleverly tagging others.

Pankaj registered his second Super 10 of the season, finishing with 14 raid points and only a single unsuccessful raid.

At one stage, Puneri Paltan trailed by more than 10 points, but Pankaj’s brilliance helped them get back into the contest and even inflict an all-out on the Steelers. However, his efforts weren’t enough to secure victory, as he received little to no support from his teammates.

1. Jaideep Match Winning Tackle

Haryana Steelers dominated the match for the first 30 minutes, and had a comfortable lead of 10 points at one point. But the momentum shifted dramatically in just five minutes, as Puneri Paltan staged a grand comeback courtesy of smart raids from Pankaj Mohite, reducing the gap to just 2 points.

For the next few minutes, the game went even, with neither team giving an inch. With just one minute left and Haryana leading by 2, Puneri Paltan trusted Stuwart Singh and sent him to raid.

He went slightly deep, and Jaideep almost dived at his legs but missed, also managing to balance himself without giving away a touch. The very next second, Stuwart came closer to Jaideep, and this time Jaideep launched a perfect dive at his legs.

The support came instantly, and they completed the decisive tackle that sealed the game for Haryana Steelers. Jaideep followed it up with an aggressive celebration, proving the importance of that moment.
