PKL 12: Top five best moments from Day 4 matches

At the end of Day 4 of PKL 12, Puneri Paltan have secured the first position.

The fourth day of the Pro Kabaddi League 12 (PKL 12) started with last year’s runners-up and three-time champions, the Patna Pirates, taking on the UP Yoddhas. The Pirates got off to a flyer, inflicting an early all-out on the Yoddhas.

However, the momentum was changed in the second half as the Yoddhas scripted a comeback and snatched victory from the Pirates’ ship.

The second match was a one-sided affair. Season 10 Champions, Puneri Paltan, completely dominated the game and secured a 22-point victory over Gujarat Giants.

Just like the previous three days, today was also filled with exciting moments and brilliant performances. On that note, let’s take a look at the top five moments from Day 4 of PKL 12:

5. Ayan the Lone Warrior

After a brilliant debut season last year, Ayan stepped onto the mat with a new role, leading the raiding attack. He performed brilliantly, scoring 9 raid points, but received very little support from the other raiders and spent too much time on the bench. This affected the team’s performance, and they lost the match.

4. Sumit’s High 5 and Leadership

Patna Pirates had a lead of over 8 points just before halftime. UP were trailing in the game, but they staged an impressive comeback, led by their captain, Sumit Sangwan, who scored back-to-back High 5s and helped his team secure another win this season.

3. Ashu Singh’s High 5

UP Yoddhas’ defenders played a crucial role in their comeback against the Pirates, especially Ashu Singh, who perfectly supported his captain, Sumit, and scored his sixth High-5 in PKL. His efforts helped the team get over the line in a closely fought battle.

2. Puneri Paltan’s Defence

Puneri Paltan built a defensive wall, creating a no-entry zone for Gujarat Giants’ raiders. The team collectively scored 18 tackle points, with Abinesh Nadarajan contributing 6 and once again proving why he is one of the top right covers in the country.

His teammates Gurdeep and Gaurav added 4 tackle points each, completely dismantling the Giants’ raiding unit.

1. The No-Show from the ‘Showstopper’

It is very rare for Mohammadreza Shadloui to remain scoreless in a match, as he has a career PKL average of nearly 4 points per game. However, today was different.

Puneri Paltan’s raiders applied tremendous pressure on the Gujarat Giants, completely stopping Shadloui from scoring a single point. He looked totally out of form, and the pressure of captaincy was evident in both his behaviour and performance.
