PKL 12: What will be Gujarat Giants' starting 7 in Pro Kabaddi 2025?

Gujarat Giants are aiming for their first-ever silverware in PKL 12.

Gujarat Giants are one of the most talked-about teams since their inclusion in the Pro Kabaddi League. Gujarat made it to the finals of the first two seasons they played in the league. Consistency has dropped since then as they have made it to the playoffs in alternate seasons.

The management went for an overhaul and appointed Jaivir Sharma as the new head coach. The veteran is one of the most respected coaches, having been in the Sports Authority of India (SAI) since 1992. Jaivir’s proficiency with domestic players will be a huge asset, and the addition of Mohammadreza Shadloui has given a new dimension to the side.

Here we take a look at the predicted starting 7 of the Gujarat Giants for PKL 12.

Young and relentless raiding attack

Although the team’s fortunes have been topsy-turvy, two Raiders have been consistent for the two-time finalists. Parteek Dahiya and Rakesh Sungroya have been with the franchise for the last three years and have carried the mantle from the likes of Sachin Tanwar and Rohit Gulia.

These two will continue to lead the raiding department, and the addition of V Ajith Kumar will add the much-needed calmness to the unit. Ajith Kumar’s experience will be key for the team in the upcoming season. Shadloui will also help the team as a support raider, and there are a few young lights who have shown glimpses in the previous seasons.

Defense will be key for the Giants

Defense has been the strong forte of Gujarat, and with names like Fazel Atrachalli, Sunil Kumar, and Parvesh Bhainswal, the side has a rich history in winning games through defense. Gujarat have gone back to the same strategy and they hired quality defenders for Season 12.

Gujarat will rely a lot on Mohammadreza Shadloui this season, as he has been one of the best defenders in the league for the past few seasons.

They also have another Iranian, Milad Jabbari, to handle cover duties. Lucky Sharma had a good performance with Jaipur last year, and he would like to repeat the same this season too. The pair of Shubham Kumar and Nitin Panwar had performed well for UP Yoddhas, and coach Jaivir would also expect the same from them.
